Cigna Investment Management (CIM) manages over $35 billion in assets on behalf of Cigna, a publicly traded global health services company. The Investment Operations Lead, supporting the middle office business infrastructure within CIM Operations, will report to the Investment Operations Director. The position is responsible for the development and maintenance of robust and efficient business infrastructure and data flows as well as support for various investment operations functions. The successful candidate will develop and implement improvements to CIM business infrastructure and processes that address the needs of the broader CIM organization. The position liaises with business partners across CIM and Cigna including Portfolio Management, Trading, Operations, Accounting, Treasury, Compliance, Cigna/CIM IT, and various external vendors in order to develop and support the implementation of an overall business, middle office, and data management infrastructure. The candidate for this position will support and lead data and business initiatives, have strong technical abilities as related to asset management, recommend and lead process improvements, meet expected service levels, and have the ability to partner with senior business associates in order to execute CIM strategic initiatives. The position within the CIM Data Management Team will be responsible for assisting the team in delivering a full range of project related deliverables associated with CIM’s infrastructure project, including accounting system implementations and the build out of a new data store.
Major Duties
Become deeply familiar with existing investment business infrastructure, data flows, processes, business needs and practices, and utilize knowledge to design and execute related improvements.Develop and strengthen a middle office role that addresses, where necessary, proper transaction processing, analytics, derivative and compliance reporting, risk and return scenarios, and attribution/performance measurement.Collaborate with investment business data governance colleagues to establish optimal processes and appropriate controls to catalog, manage, and govern dataContribute to new data architecture design for creation of a data warehouse and patterns for data access by internal and external applicationsUtilize an Agile development environment to execute and promote the successful completion of selected technology projects, including close collaboration with Agile Product Owner.Develop and implement standards and best practices related to business user request and specifications, reporting design, processes and maintenance, and process and data field documentation.Become a valued partner to business stakeholders by anticipating needs and driving solutions.Manage changes in business strategy, technology development & adoption, and regulatory measures that may impact business infrastructure needs and processes.Support CIM’s infrastructure project in a leading role by performing requirements analysis, documenting and communicating the results to stakeholders.Assist in resolving project issues and managing project risks through analysis of the issue, formulation of solution options and presentation of recommendations to senior leaders.Support all phases of conversion and implementation including test planning and creation, training and target operating model design.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a financial discipline. MBA or CFA a plus.5+ years of financial experience within investment discipline, majority of which spent in middle office support, investment operations or asset management data quality and control.Experience as a business partner to IT within an Agile or similar framework.Experience as an Agile Product Owner and/or an Agile Business Stakeholder strongly considered.Proven track record of managing investment data which resulted in the improvement of data used.Knowledge of BI tools, investment management and reporting software, and data analytics applicationsWorking knowledge of investment management and portfolio structures, e.g. performance measurement, liquidity management, total return, attribution, investment operations and related business and client reporting.Demonstrated skills in leadership and in building positive business partner relationships.Strong problem solving, decision-making, organizational agility with interpersonal skills.Strong communication skills and ability to influence others within a matrix environment.Strong technical skills and analytic orientation with a comfort level working with excel formulas and macros.Experience with general business systems and ability to quickly adapt to internally built applications.High energy level, intellectual curiosity, proactive approach and sense of urgency.Flexible with ability to manage time and juggle multiple priorities.This position supports Cigna Investments, Inc., an investment adviser registered with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”).
