This role is responsible for supporting the investment professionals responsible for originating, implementing and managing investments in the Impact Investing space, and specifically in the field of housing, student accommodation, retirement accommodation and financial inclusion (SME and microfinance funding). Key Result Areas:

1. This job entails undertaking investment analyst functions of housing and financial inclusion investments from cradle to grave with the key objectives being to:

Deliver commercial returns for investors.Deliver development impact that contributes to quality social infrastructure development in South Africa.

2. Responsible for researching, analysing and providing relevant information in the Impact Investing space.

3. Support and undertake due diligences and analyse the suitability of an investment partner with reference to track record, financial soundness, sustainability, scalability, and operational soundness.

4. Develop, analyse and stress financial models for projects and valuations in conjunction with the Investment Professional and JV partners, including tax considerations.

5. Assist with the write up and presentation of investment proposals, having assessed investment attractiveness in comparison to other deals and market data.

6. Management of existing Impact Investing investments, which includes:

Performing the technical functions required to undertake financial modelling, review and management of monthly and quarterly management reports, and provide reports including assets reports, valuation reports, and investor reports.Monitoring that the investments deliver on their legal obligations and business objectives and providing appropriate recommendations where required.Performance analysis, monitoring and reporting.Making investment recommendations to improve returns.Analysing and recording the developmental impacts and social benefits because of the investments.Risk management.

7. Contribute as a member of the team to the management of the Fund.

8. Work as part of the FSC Fund team, and across OMAI.

9. The post is Cape Town based, but work is national with travel essential.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required:

Undergraduate degree in the finance and commerce faculties.CA (SA) – minimum 2 years post articlesPost-graduate qualification in financial, property or related field (e.g. CFA), would be advantageous.Minimum 2 years’ experience in the financial/investment sector.Strong MS Excel modelling skillsInvestment Analyst experience would be advantageous.
