PURPOSE

As an Inventory Control Supervisor at UNFI, you will be responsible for supervising the inventory control functions of all outgoing and incoming products from the warehouse.  In this role, you will be directly involved with dry goods, cooler goods, and frozen foods. You will be leading a team to ensure storage and inventory controls are performed accurately as well as retaining and reviewing warehouse documents and reports.  A candidate in this position will have strong communication, inventory experience and leadership skills to run an efficient team. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensures adequate inventory of materials and products in accordance with inventory cycles and organizational philosophy Directly supervises an inventory team and ensures proper training Performs product slotting for optimal picking, while reviewing cube and storage types Confirms dimensional data is correct for product storage Ensures product dating is accurate and verified Processes store returns and return to vendor orders effectively Follows and adheres to all Sox audit compliance processes and procedures Conducts daily inventory analysis to solve inventory problems Administers inventory control procedures Effectively processes product salvage and donation shipments Coordinates and manages daily physical cycle counts Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals Works closely with Special Projects Manager on inventory related projects such as Product Layout and other duties as assigned Leads warehouse operations in accordance with established procedures and policies and keeps management informed of warehouse activities  Performs duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to work 6:00AM – 2:30PM Monday through Friday; weekend days as needed Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel Good working knowledge of inventory control practices and materials management Basic knowledge of purchasing and inventory procedures and policies Understanding of required computer applications Excellent leadership abilities Able to organize, coordinate, and direct team activities Strong problem solving skills Able to use all related maintenance equipment and computer applications  Strong Knowledge of applicable warehouse management system and RF system Previous Inventory Control experience a plus Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

Some travel may be required Ability to lift between 40-60 pounds daily and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 
degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.  Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform

Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
