Position Summary

 

The Inventory Material Manager is responsible for overseeing the processes, procedures, and accurate reporting of inventory from receiving through the warehouse. Working closely with the Purchasing, Planning, Manufacturing, Production Inventory, and Finance teams, this position will develop and implement an inventory strategy and process with the overall goal of increasing accuracy and on-time product delivery.

 

Responsibilities

 

Responsible for the safety of everyone in the department.Responsible for department including material, team, schedule, and budgets.Maintains and ensures accuracy of the perpetual inventory system.Manages the Supervisor(s), ensuring their teams are professionally managed; supports recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.Oversee the inventory levels of raw, manufactured, and purchased materials to optimize production efficiency while minimizing holding costs.Coordinate with Purchasing team to implement a robust inventory tracking system to monitor stock levels and trigger reorder points.Analyze historical data and demand patterns to optimize inventory levels and reduce carrying costs.Coordinate with production planning to align inventory levels with production schedules.Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) and other inventory control strategies to minimize waste.Conduct regular audits to ensure inventory accuracy and address discrepancies promptly.Collaborate with the Quality team to develop and implement quality control procedures for incoming materials.Facilitate regular meetings with cross-functional teams to share information and address challenges in the supply chain.Work closely with logistics teams to optimize transportation and delivery schedules.Lead cross-functional teams in identifying and implementing process improvements in materials management.Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure a unified approach to supply chain management.Lead cross-functional teams in identifying and implementing process improvements in materials management.Utilize data analytics to identify inefficiencies and areas for optimization.Encourage a culture of continuous improvement through training and development programs within the plant materials management teams.Conduct regular performance reviews of the materials management process and implement adjustments as needed.Identify slow-moving raw materials and own the end-to-end process of reducing those at-risk inventories.Communicate closely with Finance to ensure that any financial risk for expired/obsolete materials is clearly understood.Conducts department and CIT meetings.Identifies opportunities to reduce transportation costs and charges.Performs write-offs of damaged or obsolete inventory to reflect accurate value of inventory.Establishes procedures for conducting and valuing year-end physical inventory.Performs other related duties as assigned.Employees are responsible to comply with all requirements of Daifuku’s IMS policies and procedures. Employees are to ensure sustainable process outputs that drive continuous improvement to provide leading industry performance and exceptional customer satisfaction. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Inventory or Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of management experience in Inventory or Material Management.Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems with specific focus on Inventory controls and transactions. SAP EWM experience is preferred.
