INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST
Summary Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the DoD in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information. Responsibilities Serves as Inventory Management Specialist for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) Rewards and Recognition Program at the DFAS Indianapolis (DFAS-IN) site. Performs a variety of inventory monitoring, distribution, and storage for the E2E program reward merchandise. Sets up and manages the necessary control system for planned utilization of funds and for gathering expenditure and contractual data to meet operation management and reporting requirements. Participates in the work of the team, coaches and facilitates the selection and application of problem solving techniques or work methods, and assists team in identifying solutions, priorities in and organizing to accomplish the work. Provides advisory services to executive level management as well as managers at all levels concerning policies and practices for the performance of the awards program inventory, local budget, shipping, and receiving trends and issues. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: managing the accuracy of a database of supplies and products; continuously monitoring the materials and supplies in a warehouse setting; receive, store and issue supplies, equipment, or related inventory for employee use; reviews data analysis, budget and deficiency reports on inventories to determine product replenishment and recommend solutions to resolve supply distribution problems. Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience. Education Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: GS-09 Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. If you are using education to substitute for the specialized experience and/or a basic requirement, you must submit transcripts at the time you apply. To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.
