Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Project: RFID-Based IT Asset Management System

Tasks:Research and explore integration between RFID readers and applications.Develop a prototype to retrieve RFID data and query the database for employee details display on a monitor.Document the entire process and findings for future reference.Business Impact:Enhanced IT asset monitoring by tracking laptops carried out of the premises.Reduced risk of unauthorized asset removal.Improved visibility of IT assets leaving the facility.Potential for scalability to monitor other asset categories and locations.Skills Learned:Hands-on experience with RFID technology and hardware integration.Application development and integration with RFID readers.Database querying and data processing.Real-time monitoring system development for tracking and alerts.Problem-solving and troubleshooting hardware-software interactions.Documentation and presentation of technical projects.

2.    Building Intelligent Insights for IT Incident Ticket system

Tasks:Data extraction and preprocessing of incident ticket records from IT Ticketing system.Apply machine learning techniques (e.g., clustering, classification, NLP) to analyze ticket trends, recurring issues, and resolution times.Develop a predictive model to anticipate high-frequency or critical incidents.Create a dashboard or visual report summarizing findings and actionable insights.Collaborate with IT teams to validate insights and refine models.Business Impact:Enhanced IT service quality and operational efficiency.Faster resolution times through predictive insights.Improve Factory Uptime by proactively addressing incidents.Skills Learned:Gain hands-on experience with IT incident ticketing system data extraction and preprocessing.Learn & apply AI/ML techniques such as NLP & predictive modelling.Opportunity to present findings to senior management, enhancing communication and presentation skills.

3.    Support Smart Factory Initiatives

Tasks:Review the business needs and explore new IoT tools and devices that suits the business needs.Propose IoT devices that suits business needs and perform evaluationConfigure and onboard selected IoT devices (e.g., mobile devices, AGVs, etc) to the network, where necessaryMonitor device performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.Document onboarding processes for repeatabilityBusiness Impact:Improves productivity in deploying new IoT devices.Improves business operation efficiency for decision making.Skills Learned:IoT devices, protocols and platforms.Troubleshooting and documentation of these devices and its processes.

4.    Asset Management solution for IT MFG systems

Tasks:Participate in product evaluation for IT MFG asset management tool with site IT.Perform in depth testing and feasibility study on selected productAssist site IT team to document product evaluation for proposalBusiness Impact:Improves visibility for all networked devices in MFG.Ability to address vulnerabilities effectivelyVisibility on managed devices health and performanceSkills Learned:Research on technical subject.End to end network and asset topology.

5.    Simplification and Improvement Initiatives

Tasks:Analyse current manual processes within IT operations (ticket monitoring, reporting, ticket analysis, etc)Explore and propose an automated or simplified process to eliminate the manual processes.Develop, test and implement program upon approvalBusiness Impact:Reduces human errors and manual interventionImproves reliability.Skills Learned:Scripting / Programming.Process automation.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

Current student, pursuing Bachelor in Computer Science or related field.  Knowledge in C, Object-oriented programming (e.g. C++, Python), Data Structure, Algorithms. Multi-threaded programming. Knowledge in Windows Operating Systems (Windows 10, Windows 11)Ability to rapidly learn new technologiesCapable of quickly learning new firmware, hardware, systems, tools, and methodologies.  You have strong aptitude and penchant for problem solving, algorithm design, and complexity analysis. You have excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.  You are comfortable and enjoy working in a dynamic and ever evolving environment.  You can be a fun and enthusiastic teammate who enjoys challenges and celebrates successes.  Self-motivated to work both supervised and unsupervised as part of the team. 

PREFERRED

Knowledge in network and communications.

SKILLS: 

Would be an added advantage if you have: 

Knowledge in data analytics, data visualisation, machine learning.Good understanding of Agile practices.
