Your role and responsibilitiesIn this role, you will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement (6 months). Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.You will have an opportunity to work on different aspects of a sensor system for automation of electrical protection systems. The focus is on experimental design, sensor selection, signal acquisition, and data interpretation.The work model for the role is: hybrid #LI-HybridThis role is contributing to ABB Corporate Research in Baden-Dättwil, Switzerland. Main stakeholder is ABB Electrification - Smart Buildings. You will be mainly responsible for:• Experiment design, sensor selection, and quick prototyping• Implementation of dedicated signal acquisition• Sensor signal analysis and processing• Information extraction and classification• Review of academic literature• Documentation of findings and developed solutions
Qualifications for the roleYou currently pursue a degree (enrollment to 5th semester or higher is essential) in Electrical Engineering or similar fieldYou are interested in the following fields: industrial sensor solutions, signal and data interpretation, and experimental lab workYou have experience with electronics, signal acquisition/processing (preferably in acoustics), and programming (preferably Matlab)You are willing to learn and quickly adapt to new research topicsYou are self-motivated and have a hands-on attitudeYou are at ease communicating in EnglishNon-EU/non-EFTA citizens, please note that a certificate from your university, showing that an internship is a mandatory part of your studies, is required for the visa applicationWe appreciate applications that include a CV, cover letter and a detailed overview of courses taken during studies.
