Old Mutual Alternative Investments’ (OMAI) Internationsl Private Equity business is a seasoned global alternatives programme founded in 2007. It makes primary and secondary private equity investments in buyout, growth and venture capital fund.

Role Overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Old Mutual Alternative Investments’ (OMAI) International Private Equity (IPE) as a Vice President in the investment team.  The International Private Equity (IPE) business is a seasoned global alternatives programme founded in 2007. It makes primary, co-investment and secondary private equity investments in buyout, growth and venture capital funds across the USA, Europe and Asia.

The team has demonstrated a consistent ability to outperform benchmarks, industry peers and the relevant public markets. The successful incumbent will join as an integral member of the IPE investment team, which will contribute towards strong investment outcomes and protect and enhance the IPE’s brand and culture.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our International Private Equity team. The role will focus on evaluating, executing, and managing private equity co-investment opportunities, secondary transactions and making fund commitments across various industries and geographies. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, gaining exposure to diverse transactions while collaborating with some of the best private equity managers worldwide.

Key result Areas:

Co-Investment Evaluation & Execution:

Analyze and assess co-investment opportunities, including financial modelling, due diligence, market research, and competitive landscape analysis.Prepare investment memos and presentations for internal investment committees.Participate in structuring and negotiating co-investment terms alongside lead private equity sponsors.Coordinate with internal teams, external advisors, and legal counsel to ensure smooth transaction execution.

Fund Commitments:

Evaluate potential fund commitments to private equity funds, performing thorough due diligence on fund strategies, performance track records, and management teams.Build detailed assessments of fund managers, including analysing prior fund investments and long-term value creation.Prepare and present recommendations on fund commitments to the investment committee.Maintain an up-to-date understanding of market dynamics, fund manager pipelines, and sector trends to identify attractive fund opportunities.

Portfolio Management:

Monitor the performance of co-investments and fund commitments, providing regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.Develop insights into portfolio performance and suggest strategies to optimize outcomes.Maintain active engagement with fund managers and attend meetings as required.

Relationship Management:

Build and maintain strong relationships with private equity fund managers, advisors, and other stakeholders.Represent the firm at networking events, fundraising meetings, and industry conferences.

Market Research & Strategy:

Stay up-to-date on private equity market trends, emerging managers, and sector-specific developments.Contribute to the development of broader investment strategies and processes.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience required:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field; MBA or CFA is a plusIt is a requirement for the candidate to have relevant international (USA, Europe and/or Asia) experience5–10 years of experience in private equity, fund-of-funds, principal investing, investment banking, or a related field, with a focus on transaction analysis, fund evaluation, or portfolio managementStrong financial modelling and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and present clear recommendationsDeep understanding of private equity fund structures, investment strategies, and co-investment processes

Participates in developing investment recommendations for portfolio managers relating to existing and potential investments. Develops and amends quantitative models to analyse and forecast market developments, estimating risks, identifying factors influencing investment decisions and quantifying potential risks and rewards.

Develop and/or deliver a plan for significant aspects of the financial management and/or control process.

Risk Scenario Modeling

Analyze, assess, and quantify the risks associated with products, individual applications, business activities, and the market to determine whether any risk is within the agreed risk appetite. Undertake tactical risk modeling.

Data Collection and Analysis

Use data from a wide range of sources to analyze key themes and identify possible impacts on the business.

Financial Policies, Guidelines, and Protocols

Create a plan to deliver and review financial policies, guidelines, and protocols to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice.

Investment Management

Analyze and forecast investment or market trends by designing and developing nonroutine investment models. May also manage specific assigned portfolios while helping to develop investment policy.

Recommendations

Recommend changes to policies, processes, standards, and practices that would improve operational support.

Internal Communications

Develop and/or deliver a plan for significant aspects of internal communications with guidance from senior colleagues.

Information and Business Advice

Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving complex or contentious queries and issues and enabling others to take appropriate actions.

Document Preparation

Write and edit material for various target populations, tailoring the tone and content to match the needs and expectations of each audience.

Internal Client Relationship Management

Manage relationships with internal clients and act as a business partner to them, building high levels of professional credibility and mutual trust, and managing the deployment of appropriate internal and/or external resources to support in delivering business strategy and plans.

Personal Capability Building

Act as subject matter expert in an area of technology, policy, regulation, or operational management for the team. Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging external regulation and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
