The Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (http://vetmed.tamu.edu/) (VMBS) is an institution that represents 100 years of growth from a small school of vet erinary medicine in 1916 to its present role as a major vet erinary educational, medical, and research center. Today, we are one of the largest schools of vet erinary medicine in the United States, training nearly 600 Doctor of Vet erinary Medicine students each year. What we want
The Internal Medicine Liaison plays a crucial role in the Small Animal Internal Medicine department by overseeing daily activities and providing exceptional customer support. They handle telephone inquiries, offering general information and assistance to customers, and greet visitors, providing direction and help as needed. Additionally, they manage service requests, entering, retrieving, and verifying data, while maintaining organized files and records. The liaison also sorts and routes mail, and efficiently handles scheduling tasks or service requests, ensuring a seamless and efficient service experience for all.
What we want
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.
Schedule: The standard shift for this position in M-F 8:00am to 5:00pm. Persons in this position should have the ability to work alternate shifts, holiday, weekends, and “on-call” duty.
Please Note: Persons in this position are considered essential, when the University declares and emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc., are therefore required to report to work and remain on duty unless/until relieved by the direct supervisor.
Required Education and Experience
+ High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Two years of general office or clerical work
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and/or data entry application
+ Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
Preferred Qualifications
+ Ability to communicate effectively in both Spanish and English
+ Hospitality, customer service, or communications training or certificate
Responsibilities
+ Liaison During Visit: Escorts clients and patients to appropriate exam room. Educates clients about the visit and what to expect. Ensures owners are informed as to the status of the patient during the visit especially if it is an extended visit (ie; surgery). Educates clients about clinical services and procedures, and record in medical record. Ensures proper permission is obtained and take and upload photographs of patients in medical record. Alerts service/student when patient is ready to be seen and ensures action is taken in a timely fashion. Relays medical information from the doctor to the client when necessary. Promotes communication between clients, DVM’s, clinicians, the general public, and other departments.
+ Discharge/Post Visit: Reviews patient’s invoices to ensure all charges are accurate and have been entered. Ensures all paperwork is completed, signed, and reviewed by the client. Assists clients and patients to vehicle as needed. Schedules follow up appointments.
+ Pre-Admission and Admission: Greets clients and pets in a congenial manner as they check in to the hospital. Research patient history and reason for visit to identify patient by name. Assists Admissions and Discharge when the front desk is short staffed.
+ Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned. Provides support to other service areas within the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.
