Role description:
Arcadis is looking for Internal Audit Manager who is hands-on and contributes to the preparation, execution, and reporting of Arcadis’ annual audit plan and individual internal audit engagements. The role acts as a sparring partner and “thought leader” on risks and controls for Management and recommends practical improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of processes, controls, and risk mitigation. This role can be based in Amsterdam, global scope/location. Other Arcadis Offices in the EU are possible.
Often leading a small audit team on specific audit engagements, conducting risk-based audit work to ascertain the design and operating effectiveness of the internal control framework, and supporting Management to identify improvement actions. Assessed processes span a wide range of business activities that are key to achieving the Arcadis strategy (e.g. Growth, Operations, Finance, People, Technology, Information Security, etc), they can be worldwide, and at various levels in the organization (within Global Business Areas, Enabling Functions, joint ventures, newly acquired businesses, etc).
The Global Internal Audit function is growing to 10 FTEs and is composed of a combination of seasoned internal audit professionals and business-oriented experts from Arcadis of multiple nationalities with diverse backgrounds, all with the aim to add value to the quality of Arcadis’ governance, risk management, and internal controls to support the achievement of Arcadis’ strategic objectives through providing assurance and recommendations for improvement.
The Head of Internal Audit reports to the CEO and the Audit and Risk Committee.

The Internal Audit Manager reports to the Global Internal Audit Director.
Role accountabilities:
The Internal Audit Manager contributes to the preparation, execution, and reporting of Arcadis’ annual audit plan and individual internal audit engagements. The role acts as a sparring partner and “thought leader” on risks and controls for the auditee and recommends practical improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of processes, controls, and risk mitigation.
The role is hands-on and will include the execution of activities in the full audit cycle from planning, and execution to reporting, and will act as a lead auditor on complex audit engagements.
Annual Audit Plan
Assist in establishing the audit universe, and risk assessment, and responsible for the annual planning process to develop parts of the annual audit plan and ensure the plan is responsive to, and aligned with, the risk profile of the overall organization. Plan and oversee the execution of individual audit engagements defined in the annual audit plan ensuring the highest level of service quality and client satisfaction. Provide input regarding the audit outcomes and attention points for the periodic summarization reports to the Executive Board and Audit & Risk Committee. Actively engage with Management at all levels of the Organization to ensure that Internal Audit is well-informed of key business developments that could have an impact on audit priorities and/or plans. Report the status of Internal Audit’s ongoing activities, educate/inform Management of emerging risks and/or exposures that should be considered, and serve as a “thought leader” with respect to risk management and internal control best practices.Internal Audit Engagements
Plan and oversee the execution of individual audit engagements defined in the annual audit plan ensuring the highest level of service quality and client satisfaction. Planning: Perform audit risk assessment and scoping, organize and attend planning meetings, collect and review relevant information in advance of the audit, document relevant information, prepare Plan of Approach and kick-off presentation Execution: Utilize advanced audit methodologies to execute and conclude on audit procedures and work programs, clear documentation of results, audit procedures, and conclusions, provide risk and audit rating, validate observations with the auditee Reporting: Factual documentation of observations and recommendations, contributing to the closing presentation and audit report. Management Follow-Up: Periodical follow-up of management action to determine that agreed actions are completed and support action owners where necessary. Providing coaching, feedback, and supporting the development of Internal Audit colleagues and guest auditors with regard to internal audit, internal control, and risk management best practices Overall adherence to internal audit methodology and processes Support the improvement of Internal Audit methodologies by utilizing data analytics, systems, and tools Develop and maintain an effective relationship with relevant staff in ArcadisLine manager
Line manager for a limited number (2 – 4) of internal audit staff members facilitating development and enabling good performance (GPS) and providing them with operational support (including travel & expense approvals) Coach, train, and develop auditing staff to upgrade their knowledgeInternal Audit Quality Management
A key part of the role is to influence the continuous development of the Global Internal Audit function to further raise the bar of professionalism. The role will also maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement, and mitigation of (commercial, financial or technology) risks and drive best practices both in business and enabling functions of Arcadis.
Qualifications & Experience:
The candidate should have:
Education
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant area (accounting, auditing, information technology, economic or business administration) Professional audit certification (CIA, CISA, RA, RO, RE, RC, CPA) Experience At least 5 years of audit experience preferably in a large multinational company. Prior experience in a professional project services company is desirable. Experience with public accounting with a demonstrated affinity with our industry Knowledge of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards and experience in applying thoseEssential skills
Professional skepticism, critical thinking, attention to detail, problem-solving and analytic skills Sensitive to deadlines and capacity constraints either in the team or for the auditee Good presentation and report-writing skills Good numeracy and IT skills Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills including fluent English, with any other major language(s) an advantage Experience and ability to work with different cultures and management styles Able and willing to travel worldwide, including weekends, but for a maximum of 1.5 - 2 consecutive weeks.
