About the role

The Internal Audit Business Partner will work within the Internal Audit team and partner with the business to provide independent and objective assurance to senior stakeholders and the Audit Committee on the effectiveness of the companies control and governance processes.

The Internal Audit Business Partner will manage and deliver a portfolio of audits from the Internal Audit plan covering Convatec’s core financial and operational processes, assessing the effectiveness of controls in mitigating the key risks faced by the business, in order to provide assurance to the Audit and Risk Committee and to business management.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and oversee a portfolio of audits and provide associated support on initiatives within the department to assess and improve the effectiveness of controls in mitigating key business risks across Convatec’s core financial and operational processes;

Plan, perform and report on audit activities and deliverables across the full lifecycle of the assignments, in line with defined methodologies and standards;

Where additional resources are assigned, supervise and review the work of others on the assignment; complete more complex testing on audits;

Collaborate with the Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Controls and Compliance teams, to provide coordinated assurance on areas covered by audit assignments;

Engage and challenge senior management and help to shape the business control environment;

Add value to management teams, by providing insight based on understanding of the business or subject matter areas; and

Contribute to and support the ongoing operations and continuous improvement of the department.

Travel Requirements       

Flexibility to travel to other Convatec locations, globally, mostly to a self-defined schedule. Key locations include the US, UK, Europe and China. Overall travel estimated at 10-30%, depending on the specific audit assignments. Most trips will include overnight travel.

Language Skills Required

English: Speaking, Writing/Reading

* Additional languages relevant to Convatec’s Focus markets and manufacturing locations would be an advantage.

About You

Significantly qualified by experience and/or possessing a recognized professional qualification in financial and operational processes;

Experience in the use of audit techniques such as process analysis, data analytics and root cause analysis;

Possessing a recognized finance or business qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, MIIA, MBA, CISA);

Demonstrated competencies in the areas of stewardship, strategic thinking, operational excellence and driving change;

Have a clear and succinct communication, presentation and report writing style;

A team player and innovative thinker with attention to detail and the ability to influence a diverse group of finance and non-finance stakeholders;

Track record of leading value-adding risk assurance reviews and assessment of multiple processes, controls, business areas or projects within a listed business with global operations or through direct experience within a professional audit or services firm; and

Knowledge and experience of finance and operational processes that support a medical technology provider within the chronic care market, including experience of working in a global shared services environment.

Working Conditions

The working conditions are primarily as for an office-based worker, and to be part of a hybrid office environment. A home office will be defined (e.g. Lisbon, Portugal), however the role will require liaison with a global stakeholder base across Convatec’s global locations. Travel requirements will be determined by the individual with the guidance and support of the VP Internal Audit, Enterprise Risk Management and Insurance.

From time-to-time, the position will have access to controlled environment manufacturing facilities, which produce medical devices and products.  Use of proper safety equipment is required, including but not limited to safety glasses and safety shoes.
