Join the Hach R&D team as a Mechanical Engineering Intern and gain hands-on experience designing and testing real-world water quality instrumentation. This internship provides exposure to cross-functional engineering, from CAD and fabrication to prototyping and validation. You’ll work closely with experienced mechanical engineers and Advanced Research Chemists in a collaborative team environment. This is an onsite role based in Loveland, Colorado.
This role is ideal for students who have completed project-based coursework such as CAD design for sensor housings or manufacturing coursework involving tooling and machining. Candidates with club-based or competition experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Support the mechanical design and prototyping of components for water quality analyzersCollaborate in Advanced Research team members with cross-functional engineering inputBuild and test prototype assemblies using common lab and machine shop toolsUtilize SolidWorks to update and create CAD models, especially for fluidic and sensor integrationDocument findings from prototype testing and contribute to design improvementsApply past team-based project experience to real-world industrial designsConduct basic experiments to validate mechanical concepts using feedback from operators and field engineersDesired Characteristics

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
The compensation range for this role is $16.00 - $17.00 USD per hour.We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
