The Aero Thermal Fluids (ATF) organization is responsible for the functional aerodynamic design, analysis and performance of components and modules throughout Pratt & Whitney commercial and military engine product lines. The Aero Propulsion Systems teams are part of the ATF organization focused on the aerodynamic design and analysis of high-performance military exhaust systems, including bypass duct and nozzle aerodynamics, augmentor combustion, and exhaust system cooling design, as well as propulsion system acoustics and aeromechanics, and commercial engine inlet / nacelle aerodynamics.We are seeking motivated college interns with strong technical, problem solving, and communication skills to join our team and be part of continuing Pratt & Whitney's industry leadership in current and next generation military propulsion systems.

What You Will Do​

Perform aerodynamic and thermal analyses in support of aircraft engine and technology developmentProcess analytical and rig / engine test data to inform design decisions and root cause analysesCoordinate analyses, review with subject matter experts, and communicate results as part of a part of a cross-discipline team (aero, design, structures)Work is full time, onsite on the Pratt & Whitney East Hartford campus

Qualifications You Must Have ​

Enrolled in a degree program in Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, or related STEM fieldMinimum GPA of 3.0​US citizenship required; this position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship

Qualifications We Prefer​

Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearanceComputational Fluid Dynamics (Fluent, Star-CCM, CharLES, or similar) and meshing experienceLofting and CAD experienceANSYS / FEA experience

What is my role type?

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
