Intermediate Accountant - 19203
We’re looking for an in-office Intermediate Accountant for a downtown based Edmonton client in the non for-profit sector.

Our client is a well-established and evolving organization committed to their team and clients. The Intermediate Accountant plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing full-cycle accounting, and supporting financial reporting and analysis. This position ensures compliance, supports budgeting and forecasting, and contributes to audit preparation and process improvements.

Intermediate Accountant responsibilities: Process vendor payments, manage cash applications, and reconcile accounts. Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and financial adjustments. Conduct monthly financial analyses and assist with reporting for leadership. Support grant reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes. Assist with year-end audit preparation and compliance requirements. Oversee accounts payable, receivable, and expense reimbursements. Manage credit card reconciliations and ensure proper expense documentation. Identify opportunities for efficiency, automation, and financial process improvements. Support financial projects and perform additional accounting duties as needed. The successful candidate has:  An accounting diploma or degree. Minimum of 3+ years of full cycle accounting Canadian experience is a must. Experience in a non-for-profit organization with an understanding of restricted and non-restricted funding. Experience in a public accounting firm and non for profit are ideal. Strong critical thinking skills, able to trouble shoot and experienced with full cycle accounting is a must. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Thrives in a fast-paced environment where a sense of urgency is required. Must be able to wear many hats and shift gears quickly as priorities change. Strong tech skills, experience with software conversion and QuickBooks is preferred. Power User Excel abilities is a must. Strong communication skills, a positive attitude and a high attention to detail. Able to work in an office in downtown Edmonton. Compensation and benefits: The discussed salary range is $75,000 – $85,000 depending on experience. Candidates with additional experience and higher compensation expectations may also be considered.
