Intercampus Shuttle Van Driver
Union County College is a public comprehensive community college providing quality, affordable, accessible educational programs that serve the greater Union County region. It is the oldest of New Jerseys 19 Associate Degree Colleges, serving both career-minded and transfer-oriented students since 1933. The College enrolls almost 30,000 credit, non-credit and continuing education students and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Many programs lead to the Associate in Arts, Science and Applied Science degrees. Campus: All General Description: Under general supervision operates College owned vehicle to safely shuttle students within the Cranford campus, between the Cranford, Elizabeth, Scotch Plains and Plainfield campuses and on off campus locations. Shifts vary and may include daytime, evening and weekend requirements. Characteristics, Duties and Responsibilities: • This position must be committed to the mission, vision and values of UCNJ Union College of Union County, NJ and the Facilities Department. • Supports the Facilities Department mission by being highly visible and active in the College Community. • Provides consistent transportation service in a safe, pleasant, helpful and effective manner to the College community. • Provides direction to students regarding the Shuttle service program. • Maintains a daily record of shuttle usage in conjunction with the Public Safety Department. • Notifies necessary personnel when vehicle needs repairs, refueling and detailed cleaning. • Notifies supervisors of any incidents, accidents, mechanical concerns. • Attends all training and meetings required by the Director of Facilities. Education Requirements: High School graduate or equivalent required. Experience: Previous commercial driving experience preferred. Competencies and Skills Required: Previous commercial driving experience preferred. Physical Demands and Work Environment: • This position’s routine duties are normally performed in a typical vehicular and traffic work environment, based on the activity scheduled. • Some physical effort required; the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. • No or very limited exposure to physical risk. • Required to submit to a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
