JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
What You Will Do with JT4
The Instrumentation Operation Engineer has the responsibility of modification, installation, testing, evaluation, repair, and documentation of airborne test instrumentation, data acquisition systems, as well as the operation and performance of ground support equipment.
EXPERIENCE WITH:
Analog and digital electronic fundamentals, familiar with various sensors like strain gauges, accelerometers, and thermal sensors, while also possessing an understanding of digital logic and EU conversions Multi-meter, O-scope, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, to accomplish tasks such as checkout, calibration, troubleshooting and repair Schematics, mechanical drawings, wire diagrams, wire repair, block diagrams and technical publications IRIG 106 Telemetry Standards & TTC hardware/software A variety of electrical, instrumentation, and avionics on aircraft including bench testingESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Conduct research and reference reading to assist higher-level engineers in obtaining technical information; keeps informed of currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applied to engineering specialty Perform engineering tasks that are varied, with established deadlines that may be somewhat difficult in character Plan and carry out successive engineering steps to resolve technical problems by standard practices and techniques such as tolerance studies and design calculations Support projects with limited scope or parts of more complex projects with detailed instructions on the intent and scope of the documents to be prepared Generate sections of design specifications of more complex projects or complete specifications of less complex projects Using computer-assisted test methods, conduct laboratory investigations on equipment or systems Assist in preparation of reports, correspondence, or technical studies Prepare, delivers, and submits technical presentations for in-process design and review meetings Perform a variety of engineering tasks under general supervision of a senior-level engineer and any other position-related duties as assigned or requestedRANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION
Modify, install, test, evaluate, repair and document the operation and performance of airborne test instrumentation, data acquisition systems and ground support equipment. Proficient in analog and digital electronic fundamentals, the theory of solid-state devices, digital logic and techniques, RF modulation techniques and understanding of electromechanical drive mechanisms. Knowledgeable on schematics, mechanical drawings, wire diagrams, block diagrams and technical publications to build prototype electronic assemblies. Hands on experience of equipment such as multi-meter, O-scope, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, frequency meter, logic probe to accomplish specific tasks such as checkout, calibration, troubleshooting and repair. Proficient at troubleshooting and repair of electrical, electronic and integrated circuits to the component level. Hands-on electrical, instrumentation, and avionics maintenance on aircraft highly desired. Able to work in a field environment which will include shift work, overtime, and travel to remote locations. Frequent exposure to weather and temperature extremes, drafts, noise. Must have or be able to obtain a DOD security clearance. Must be able to obtain special access.
REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE
The candidate must have a Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 4 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and a minimum of 2 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate a mastery of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enable the employee to serve as a technical authority on projects relating to the specific programs. The candidate must have knowledge and skills sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area and have working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools. The candidate must have the ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software. The candidate must have excellent communication and analytical skills in addition to planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines.
The incumbent must possess a valid, state issued driver's license. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.
SALARY
The expected salary range for this position is $92,040 to $146,600 annually.
