Job Description
Geotechnical engineers will take samples from the field crews and evaluate soil, rock, and underground water to determine the feasibility and design specifications for construction projects. The role includes sitting onsite at Offutt Air Force Base and performing geotechnical analysis and studies to assess construction site conditions. The position requires a background in mapping, GIS, and design.
ResponsibilitiesPlan and conduct geotechnical exploration effectively.Perform field and environmental investigations for construction projects.Inspect and check quality and participate in the execution of soil sampling (20% of the time).Conduct site walks and surveying with Pizometers, inclinometers, total stations, and Trimble equipment.Analyze geotechnical findings, perform appropriate calculations, and prepare data reports for the Project Manager.Provide direction to the technical team in field inspection activities.Interact with customers and team members to complete assigned projects on time.Review construction design proposals and approve geotechnical aspects.Essential SkillsMinimum associate's degree in construction management or civil engineering.Experience in mapping and civil surveying and design.1-5 years of commercial construction experience.Skills in observation, inspection, instrumentation, calibration, documentation, data collection, topography, and topographic surveys.Strong understanding of geotechnical practices including exploration, analysis, and design.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsPreferred experience as an inspector or observer.Ability to manage a team and interest in moving into a project engineering role.Strong organizational skills.Successful experience in client service management.Leadership experience in defining and setting the direction for a team, project, and office.Experience in strategy development, change management, and corporate stewardship.Experience in decision making, including making sound defensible business decisions and solving complex problems.Work Environment
20% of the time will be spent on in-office planning and documentation. The position involves site walks and surveying at a loud, dirty commercial construction site, specifically at the Air Force base. You will use total stations and Trimble equipment. Travel to other offices and project sites will be required. Additionally, the company covers 100% of healthcare costs and provides a company vehicle for transport between the office and job site.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
