About you and this role- What you will do in this role
Your role as a SIM Instrument Technician will be to provide instrument maintenance support for the Energy and Environmental Operations Unit and the Central Maintenance Shop at the St. Charles Site. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining and repairing all types of pneumatic, electronic, gas detector, and instrument equipment used in the related manufacturing process. You will have an exciting opportunity to take part in a joint venture between Dow and Diamond Infrastructure Solutions.
Responsibilities- Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role
+ Responsible for maintaining and repairing all types of instrument systems.
+ Troubleshoot, diagnose, and replace defective components on instrumentation.
+ Ability to read electrical, logic, and loop diagrams.
+ Electronic troubleshooting and repair skills are used.
+ Check Calibrations on gauge, absolute, and differential pressure cells.
+ Check transmitters for flow indication accuracy.
+ Check transmitters for level indication accuracy.
+ Check conductivity meters for accuracy.
+ Check transmitters for temperature indicated accuracy.
+ Perform routine checks and calibrations on shut-down systems. Ex. Triconex, modicon, relay logic, ABB.
+ Recalibrate instrument during major overhaul.
+ Calibrate electronic transmitters (Non smart transmitters with zero span adjustments).
+ Calibrate pneumatic transmitters.
+ Calibrate final control mechanisms, such as automatically controlled valves or positioners.
+ Calibrate and zero-unit combustible detectors.
+ Calibrate mass flow meters, such as Coriolis meters.
+ Calibrate and repair transducers/isolators and converters.
+ Check and set regulators.
+ Check and set vacuum, pressure, and temperature switches.
+ Check and calibrate speed transmitters.
+ Check and calibrate vibration equipment.
+ Check and calibrate smart transmitters (using communicator/computer interface).
+ Procedure use - this includes field use, review, revise, and development of procedures.
+ Demonstrate the use of the following test equipment (Multimeter, Continuity Tester, Megohmmeter (Megger) and Voltage Tester, such as a Fluke T5-1000 or Tegam.
+ Identify and explain ground fault circuit interrupters.
+ Properly identify, install/connect and support various lighting fixture systems (Fluorescent, Incandescent, Industrial weatherproof/hazardous lighting, metal halide, etc.).
+ Read and interpret a SEOLD - Safe Electrical One Line Diagram and identify and understand auxiliary circuits associated with each piece of equipment.
+ Specify, comply and verify equipment for hazardous area classifications according to the hazardous area classification drawing.
+ Test to identify grounds, opens, insulation integrity and shorts, perform preventative, predictive maintenance (PPM) and hook-up using different transformer nameplate diagrams.
+ Operate a main-tie-main system (i.e., dual voltage source, redundant supply)
+ Identify and connect motor controls for specific applications.
Qualifications- Required education, experience and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves)
+ Must have a High School diploma or GED and one of the following:
+ 2-year Instrumentation Degree, an Electronics Degree, or similar. In lieu of a degree Dow will consider those with 4 or more years of relevant Military training/experience.
+ NCCER certified in Instrumentation (NCCER Certification obtained through an Instructor Led Training Program is a preference).
+ Able to work on a 4-10 schedule (4 days per week at 10 hours per day) with occasional overtime as dictated by business needs. Participates in an after-hour call rotation for night and weekend coverage.

+ Current, valid US driver’s license.
+ A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

+ Instrumentation Maintenance and Repair: Proficiency in maintaining and repairing various types of instrument systems, including pneumatic, electronic, and gas detector equipment.
+ Troubleshooting and Diagnostic Skills: Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and replace defective components on instrumentation, as well as electronic troubleshooting and repair skills.
+ Calibration Skills: Experience in calibrating various instruments such as pressure cells, transmitters, mass flow meters, and final control mechanisms.
+ Technical Reading and Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret electrical, logic, and loop diagrams, as well as Process Instrument Diagrams (PID) and schematics.
+ Use of Test Equipment: Proficiency in using test equipment such as multimeters, continuity testers, megohmmeters, and voltage testers.
+ Procedure Development and Use: Experience in the use, review, revision, and development of procedures for field operations.
+ Computer Literacy: Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft applications like Word and Excel, and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
