Our Health Professions Department is seeking to expand its pool of part-time faculty to teach Physical Therapy Assistant students at our distant cohort hosted by Rogue CC – Table Rock Campus in the following areas: Introductory Clinical Skills Biophysical Agents Musculoskeletal Conditions Neuromuscular Conditions Complex Medical Conditions Applied Kinesiology

Teaching responsibilities may include evaluating student learning during their first, second, and/or third clinical internship.

Beyond the required education and experience, instructors must have a passion for what they teach and have teaching styles that support student success. Instructors are responsible for following Division and College procedures in support of teaching and learning. This is an application pool posting for 2024-2025. The assigned location for this position is at the Rogue CC – Table Rock Campus.

Required Education: Associates (AAS) degree in Physical Therapist Assistant. Required Experience: Recent (within the last 5 years) clinical experience as a PT/PTA with patients/clients in a clinical setting and/or academic teaching experience in physical therapist/physical therapist assistant program.


Licensure or Certification Requirements Current PT/PTA license in Oregon or license-eligible.

Position Purpose: To provide and assist with laboratory instruction in physical therapy techniques, tests and measures, documentation, and the PT/PTA relationship across the health care continuum.

Faculty are professional educators with the primary responsibility of providing a quality learning experience for all Lane Community College students. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of the teacher of record and facilitator of learning. Essential Functions: Support student learning through activities that include: Attend and engage in department and program meetings to fulfill Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education standards for Physical Therapist Assistant education programs. Establish, assess, revise class objectives, and select specific class content consistent with students’ educational needs and CAPTE/Oregon State approved content requirements. Exhibit compliance with College policies and procedures, accountability for leave time, timesheet completion, release time, textbook ordering and related functions Sustain currency in discipline and innovation in teaching Collegial participation in faculty performance evaluation process Maintain and post teaching schedule, regular meetings and office hours Maintain physical campus presence for instruction and daily needs of students, departments, college, and community, as specified in the College Operations Policies and Procedures Maintain requirements for student records, attendance, grades, and/or other documentation; ensure a safe, quality classroom or lab, including equipment, supplies, and inventory Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students Other duties as assigned

Online Teaching and Student Support Expect to make use of the Learning Management System (LMS) to publish and update content, post grades and promote student engagement among students with course content Use multiple modes of communication tools including online publishing, audio, and video tools Be present within the online course to interact with students, help guide asynchronous discussions and provide opportunities for students’ voices to be heard within the online course Monitor student progress and provide reasonable coaching and assistance to struggling students towards success Review and grade all work submitted by students and provide timely and substantive feedback Respond to student inquiries within 48 hours Ensure that all materials created are accessible and meet the guidelines of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act Post student attendance, grades, and course syllabus to the college LMS in accordance with college timelines Use current best practices and pedagogies for teaching online including the application of online course quality frameworks for clearly providing course learning objectives to students, while consistently setting clear weekly and term-long expectations for work and assessment

Physical Demands/Working Environment: This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that include office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors. This position requires that an employee is able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; perform cognitive and psychometric work for more than six (6) hours a day. This position may work with individuals who may be hostile or abusive. Work may require transporting materials up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Work safely. Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the differences among learning styles, current advances in teaching methods and uses of technology in education, and the ability to integrate these elements into curricula and teaching methods. Knowledge of pathology and physical therapy treatment interventions for conditions within the physical therapy scope of practice: musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiopulmonary, and integument. Skills in performing and documenting tests and measures used in physical therapy practice, with emphasis on orthopedics. Ability to manage a classroom and teach using a Learning Management System (e.g. Moodle); effective classroom presentation and speaking skills; participate in shared governance and collaborate with peers in departmental, campus or community projects. Make effective use of current web technology and computer application programs. Keep professionally current by participating in in-service and other activities. Participate as member of an active department where innovations are encouraged. Must demonstrate an active concern for meeting the needs of the students, staff and public.
