CST on the closing date. A-State participates in E-Verify. Position Summary: We seek an innovative and experienced educator to direct the Writing Center at Arkansas State University. The Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Writing Center, including strategic planning, staffing, programming, training, outreach, and assessment. The ideal candidate will have experience in writing pedagogy, writing center administration, and student success initiatives. This position involves collaboration with faculty, staff, and students to foster a culture of writing excellence across disciplines. Duties & Responsibilities: + Supervise and mentor Writing Center staff, including graduate assistants + Oversee the hiring, training, evaluation, and professional development of Writing Center personnel + Manage the Writing Center’s budget, scheduling, and daily operations + Design and implement effective writing support programs for undergraduate and graduate students + Develop workshops, writing groups, and instructional materials to support student writing needs + Serve on departmental and university committees as needed + Promote Writing Center services through campus partnerships, marketing, and social media engagement and work with academic departments, library services, general tutoring centers, and student affairs to support student writing initiatives + Develop and implement assessment measures to evaluate Writing Center effectiveness and prepare reports on Writing Center usage, student outcomes, and program improvements. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Experience in writing center administration, tutoring, or writing instruction at the university level Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff General Days/Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Other: Please note: All postings close at 12 A.M. CST on the closing date. Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in English, Rhetoric & Composition, Writing Studies, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred). Experience in teaching rhetoric/composition at the university level and/or experience in directing a program of composition and/or a writing center.
