Instructional Designer & Trainer
Our GFL team is expanding, and we’re looking for a Instructional Designer & Trainer. In this role, you will play a vital role in the design and development of our training materials and training programs. Working closely with subject matter experts, content developers, and other stakeholders, the Instructional Designer will design, develop, and implement instructional content that meets the needs of our target audience and aligns with our business training objectives. This role requires a creative thinker with a strong understanding of instructional design principles, learning theories, and instructional technologies.

A “Day in the Life" of an Instructional Designer & Trainer:

Collaborate with stakeholders to identify training needs, define learning objectives, project requirements, and desired outcomes.

Design and develop engaging learning activities and course content, including e-learning modules, videos, simulations, and assessments, to enhance knowledge retention and transfer.

Establish criteria to evaluate learner performance and develop assessment methods to measure the effectiveness of courses and curricula.

Facilitate and lead pilot training sessions and Train-the-Trainer programs, applying adult learning principles to select the most effective delivery methods (eLearning, self-paced, instructor-led, virtual, and microlearning).

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage project timelines and deliverables, communicate progress, and develop action plans to address potential risks.

Maintain a central repository of content files and manage their publication to the Learning Management System (LMS).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience designing and managing the development of web-based, video-based, or virtual learning, preferably in a corporate or educational setting.

Post-secondary diploma/degree in instructional design, educational technology, multimedia design, curriculum development, or a related field is highly valued. Strong understanding of adult learning theory, curriculum planning, training needs analysis, instructional design, and evaluation strategies.

Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System (LMS). Proficient with tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office Suite, Vyond, Camtasia, and other video editing software.

Ability to create a variety of learning materials, including facilitator and participant manuals, assessments, certification plans, job aids, and other follow-up tools.

Must stay current with evolving technologies and have the flexibility to adapt to changing market demands.

Experience in technical writing, graphic design, or eLearning development is an asset. Fluency in French is also considered an asset.
