POSITION SUMMARY:

 

We are seeking a talented and innovative Instructional Designer to join our Learning and Development team. As an Instructional Designer, you will play a key role in creating engaging and effective learning experiences for our employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instructional design methodologies, a creative mindset, and a passion for developing high-quality training materials.

This is a hybrid position based in Cape Town and require flexibility to be available during American business hours for ad-hoc engagement meetings. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Needs Analysis:

Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to conduct thorough needs analysis and identify learning objectives. Assess existing training materials and identify opportunities for improvement and updates.

Instructional Design:

Develop instructional materials, including e-learning courses, instructor-led training materials, job aids, and multimedia content. Utilize instructional design models, such as ADDIE, to create effective and engaging learning experiences. Design assessments and evaluations to measure learning outcomes.

Content Development:

Create visually appealing and interactive content that aligns with adult learning principles. Collaborate with graphic designers, multimedia specialists, and other team members to enhance the visual appeal of training materials. Ensure content is accessible and inclusive for diverse audiences.

Technology Integration:

Stay current on instructional design trends and emerging technologies. Incorporate technology tools and platforms to enhance the delivery and accessibility of training content.

Quality Assurance:

Conduct thorough reviews and quality assurance checks on all instructional materials. Gather feedback from stakeholders and end-users to make continuous improvements.

Project Management:

Manage multiple instructional design projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are of high quality. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align instructional design initiatives with organizational goals.

Training and Support:

Provide training and support to facilitators and trainers to ensure effective delivery of instructional materials. Offer guidance on best practices for incorporating instructional design principles into training programs.

Other duties may be required/assigned for business needs.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Corporate Curriculum Design, Adult Learning Theory or a related field. 4+ years of proven experience as an Instructional Designer or Corporate Curriculum Designer (essential). 4+ years of proven experience and ability to develop content for diverse professional/corporate teams such as Executive Leadership and Management teams. Proficiency in instructional design software and e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate 360 Suite, Vyond, Adobe Creative and Camtasia (strongly preferred). Experience in creating and editing videos as well as building content using software tools. Experience with Learning Management Systems such as Moodle, Saba and/or Cornerstone (strongly preferred). Ability to perform LMS content management, evaluation, and troubleshooting tasks Strong understanding of adult learning theories and instructional design methodologies such as ADDIE (strongly preferred) Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams.
