The District is seeking candidates for Instructional Coordinator, assigned to support Specialized Student Services in the Special Education Compliance Department. BASIC FUNCTION: Under the general direction of the assigned department or division head, the Instructional Coordinator position assigned to support Specialized Student Services in the Special Education Compliance Department will coordinate and provide leadership and direction to site administrators and school teams in one or more areas of curriculum and/ or compliance; evaluate and supervise the work of assigned certificated and classified staff. The Instructional Coordinator position assigned to support Specialized Student Services in the Special Education Compliance Department will play a pivotal role in supporting the Special Education Division’s collaborative efforts to fulfill the District's child-find obligation for parentally placed private school students (PPPSS) within the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) boundaries and provide leadership in implementation of a robust integrated system for servicing students in non-public schools. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive, integrated system to support students with disabilities, including those attending private and non-public schools. View Job Description Requirements / QualificationsPOSITION SPECIFICS: There are a total of five (5) positions to support the Special Education Compliance Department Working location is 4100 Normal Street, San Diego, CA 92103 Positions anticipated to begin with the start of the 2025/2026 school year Scheduled for 12 months / 248 days per year Qualifies for District Paid health and wellness benefits for employee and dependents Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to a Master’s degree and seven (7) years of TK- 12 teaching experience. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California Administrative Services Credential. Valid California Driver's License.
Examples of Duties Oversee the planning, organization, and coordination of processes to ensure compliance with Child Find requirements. Including collaboration with District teams and private and non-public schools regarding special education services for students within the District’s boundaries. Oversee the management, collection and analysis of data related to student progress for parentally placed private school students and those attending non-public schools, in accordance with IDEA and District policies. Serve as the main point of contact for District staff, private school administrators, non-public school personnel, families, and other stakeholders regarding special education services, student needs, professional development, and other related items. In collaboration with Division leadership, plan, lead, and implement a robust system to ensure that students with disabilities attending private and non-public schools receive high-quality services and supports. Possible travel to school sites, professional development workshops, and meetings, including out of state, may be required.
