Inspector V

Under minimal supervision, inspects and measures both optical and mechanical parts and assemblies for conformance to specifications and standards. Works primarily with new, prototype, non-standard parts and assemblies. Provides input to Quality and Manufacturing Engineers to help develop necessary tooling and methods for measuring parts on various interferometers or CMM’s. Trains others as assigned.  Come join our team!

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Interpret and apply GD&T features on engineering drawings. Write CMM programs, measure parts, and check findings against a blueprint dimensions. Review AS9102 First Article Reports from Suppliers.  Responsible for visual inspection and small measuring tools, calipers, micrometers, drop gague, etc.  Inspect blanks, polished optics, and hardware to ensure conformance to drawings/specifications.  This includes overall measurements, chips/scratches, assessing visual field, coating, mechanical measurements, etc.,  Experience and knowledge with working with Mil, ANSI and other specifications.  Familiar with AS9100D.  Performs inspection and cleaning of optical components prior to coating.  Unpackaging and packaging of delicate uncoated and coated optical components.  Skills in inspection, writing, interpersonal communications and working with cross functional teams.  Manage shelf life and calibration systems.  Assist the Quality Engineers with daily tasks.

Education & Experience

Minimum 5 years' experience operating and programming ZEISS CMM’s Minimum of 8 years of related experience in Inspection Problem-Solving Skills: The CMM programmer should be proficient in troubleshooting common measurement issues, identifying root causes, and quickly implementing required corrective actions.  Experience with precision optics preferred Associate degree preferred.

Skills

Experienced with Microsoft word and excel. Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills. Work effectively with other members of Coherent A&D coating and mfg. Great teamwork and work ethic

Working Conditions

Inspection area, gloves, masks at times, smocks

Physical Requirements

Standing, sitting, leaning, lifting 25-30  lbs and walking
