Job Summary

Under close supervision performs varied entry level tasks associated with visual and dimensional inspection, from Receiving, Repair Determination and In-Process inspection, required in the Overhaul, Inspection and Repair processes of Limited Powerplant to engine components (typically Fan Blades, Discs, Platforms, Fillers, etc.)

Job Responsibilities

1)    Only utilize calibrated inspection tools to perform duties. Ensuring and tracing accountability of said inspection tools. 

2)    Works with engineering on engineering drawings, general or written instructions, inspection check sheets, standard inspection directives and procedures.

3)    Performs Receiving, Repair Determination and In-Process Inspection, and test operations to assure quality standards for engine components, quality of workmanship and functional performance.

4)    Audit all phases of the Repairs, including special processes, and machining operations involving milling, drilling, grinding, cutting, etc. All in house operations on multiple metals (i.e. titanium, aluminum, etc.)  

5)    Check engine components and or tooling dimensions such as; locations,  concentricity's, parallelism, height, angles and squareness using precision measuring equipment such as; specific gages, calipers, scales, micrometers (to specific parameters and tolerances). In addition to specialized measuring equipment, have ability to perform precise visual inspection. 

6)    Maintains a clean work environment (including assigned storage and cleaning duties) in full compliance with company standards, customer and government regulations.

7)    Assists in the development and maintenance of a business culture, which supports the Company's overall business objectives and goals, to include issues that involve  “cost, quality, process, schedule and people”. 

8)    Ensures the company's commitment to maintain a safe workplace and to protect the environment through the establishment and support of Company policy and adherence to various government regulations.

9)    Able to learn new inspection methods to include: methods such as, CMM, ultrasonic, immersion, NDT, etc. 

10)    Train and mentor Level 1 Inspector. 

11)    Fully complies with the "GKN Aerospace, Inc. Policy Statement on Contracting with the United States Government" in all areas of responsibility involving direct and indirect contracting with the United States Government.
12)      Performs other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

     High School diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.       3+ year experience in a manufacturing environment focused on quality directly involved in inspection.        3+ years of experience in inspection methods and techniques and following relevant work instructions.      1+ years of experience with AS9100 series requirements.      1+ years of experience working with LEAN processes and practices.      Must have the ability to speak, read and write English.


Preferred Qualifications:

    Apprenticeship, Associate’s Degree in a technical subject or equivalent.        Awareness of AS9100 series requirements.      Familiarity with FAA Repair Station part 145, and/or Repairman..      Previous delegated product acceptance authority granted by an Aerospace OEM or regulatory authority.      Familiarity with 3D model based Engineering.      GKN Experience.      Experience in an Aerospace operating environment      Apprenticeship, Associate’s Degree in a technical subject or equivalent.       Awareness of AS9100 series requirements.      Previous delegated product acceptance authority granted by an Aerospace OEM or regulatory authority.      Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English instructions. Compensation Range

The compensation range of this position is between $23.00 - $26.00.
