The Injury Prevention Coordinator, Trauma Program provides teaching and consultation services to health professionals, community members, and participates in public injury prevention education. Researches grant and other financial opportunities for program funding, Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to NY State and Otsego County. Comply with all grant reporting as required by NY State, Otsego County and Bassett Medical Center. Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting. Persuasively communicating the organization’s mission and programs to potential funders. Establishing and maintaining personal contact and relationships with NY State and Otsego County contacts and program officers. Maintaining calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports. Prioritizing projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner meet deadlines and manage supplemental material required for proposals. Responsible for the development and implementation of injury prevention education programs for all ages. Assess the educational needs of diverse populations in order to facilitate behavior change. Develops educational themes on a regular ongoing basis. Contributes to the formation of community coalitions. Develops newsletters and other media and oversee production. Maintains professional expertise in appropriate specialty through self-study, contact with physicians and colleagues, attendance at educational conferences and workshops as approved. Works with all forms of media to assure accuracy and promotion of injury prevention education. Attends Regional and State Trauma Advisory Committee (RTAC & STAC) meetings and participates in the injury prevention sub-committee. Uses trauma registry to identify community specific priorities for injury prevention. Assists in trauma registry abstraction, coding and validation. Maintains good working relationships with other departments, network organizations and community groups to support the work (RHENSOM, NYCAMH, Otsego County Health Department, etc.). Trauma Program Responsibilities of the Injury Prevention Coordinator, Trauma Program include: Purchases supplies and equipment as the program dictates. Attends trauma meetings and assists in transcription of minutes for them. Assists with review of cases to prepare daily trauma communication to team and initiates registry records when requested. Answers telephone calls, providing routine, approved information, relays other calls and messages, and maintains appropriate supplies and equipment levels. Schedules, coordinates, and facilitates meetings and conferences. Assist management staff in preparation (room set up, food and beverages, clean up) when meetings or trainings occur. Type, proofread, copy and submit pertinent reports/documents. Information Responsibilities of the Injury Prevention Coordinator, Trauma Program include: Uses electronic forms of communication to maintain contact with many and varied community members involved in injury prevention efforts. Uses the internet extensively to distribute information about programs to the community and interested parties. Attends educational events to maintain competency in areas of responsibility. Performs similar or related duties as requested or directed. What we need from you Education: High School Diploma or GED required 2 Year / Associates degree preferred and may be considered in lieu of experience requirement Experience: At least 2 years of experience with educating the public or a group of individuals (i.e. regarding program eligibility or availability, safety programs, etc.), required Experience with grant writing preferred Experience with injury prevention or emergency medical treatment preferred Experience with trauma registry preferred ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS Coding Course preferred American Trauma Society (ATS) Trauma Registry Course preferred License/Certification: Child Passenger Safety Technician Certification must be obtained within 6 months from date of hire EMS or EMT certification or a LPN license preferred and may be considered in lieu of experience requirement Skills: Computer Skills Communication Accountability Teaching Physical Requirements: Light Work - Exerting up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work. Pay Range Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. Pay Range Minimum: USD $19.50/Hr. Pay Range Maximum: USD $29.26/Hr.
