Duties Description ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis. Some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time. Under the direction of the Information Technology Architect 3, the Information Technology Architect 2 (ITA2) will be responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of technical solutions that meet business needs while adhering to all policies and standards. The position will collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, architect solutions, and ensure successful delivery.Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:• Design end-to-end technical solutions that address business requirements and align with architecture principles and standards. Develop solution architectures, technical specifications, and system designs.• Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams throughout the solution development lifecycle. Collaborate with architects, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with architectural best practices.• Work closely with user experience, business analysts, and business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements. Translate business requirements into technical solutions, considering factors such as scalability, performance, security, and usability.• Evaluate new and emerging technologies to determine their suitability for inclusion in a technical solutions catalog. Conduct proof-of-concept evaluations and provide recommendations for technology adoption.• Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them. Ensure that solutions adhere to security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.• Engage with stakeholders at all levels to communicate technical solutions, gather feedback, and address concerns. Present technical proposals and recommendations to executive leadership and other key stakeholders.• Collaborate with development teams to ensure that technical solutions are implemented according to design specifications. Provide technical oversight and support during the implementation phase.• Drive continuous improvement in solution architecture processes and practices. Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance solution quality.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:• Seven (7) years of information technology experience, five (5) years of which must be in a specialty*.*Specialty includes experience as an IT architect in one or more of the following: artificial intelligence, cloud, data, enterprise, business, and solution.Education/Experience Substitutions:• Bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field substitutes for three (3) years of general information technology experience; any bachelor’s substitutes for two (2) years of general information technology experience. • Associate degree with 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field may substitute for one (1) year of general information technology experience. Candidates in a bachelor’s degree program with at least 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field may substitute such credits for one (1) year of general information technology experience. • Master’s degree or higher in computer science or related field substitutes for one (1) year of general information technology experience.Preferred qualifications: • Strong technical background with expertise in multiple technology domains as applicable to an information technology architecture specialty*. • Experience with software development methodologies and practices as applicable to an information technology architecture specialty*.• Preference for candidates holding relevant certification as applicable to an information technology architecture specialty*.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly understand and address technical challenges. • Knowledge of security, compliance, and regulatory requirements relevant to technical solution design. • Experience working in cross-functional teams and leading technical discussions and decision-making processes.*Please note: • Appointment to this position and continued employment with the agency is contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining New York State residency within six months of hiring. • Appointment to this position is not final until all agency approvals have been granted.• The permanent status of this position is pending Division of Budget (DOB) determination.
