PAY RANGE: $112,000-114,000

 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

As a Systems Security Engineer, your primary responsibilities will be to validate outcomes of subcontractors and internal Information Technology (IT) personnel performing system development and implementations in alignment with Naval Nucluear-801 (NN-801) and NIST SP 800-171 as well as being directly accountable for configuring and hardening classified systems under the Risk Management Framework (RMF). You will also provide technical writing in support of governance document generation.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Validate the work of others conducting: governance and cyber strategy documentation, system testing, software compliance, design, documentation, problem tracking, test plans, vulnerability management, system hardening and release management.Confirm network configuration packages are compliant to contractual and regulatory requirements, including: segregation; VLAN; Ports, Protocols and Services (PPS); and equipment architecture.Conduct systems build outs, configuration hardening, deployment, and maintenance of classified laptops, while ensuring continuous monitoring and documentation.Conduct technical writing support as it relates to governance documentation. Conducting systems, networks and applications analysis, identify gaps against required contractual and regulatory requirements and provide recommendations that align to expected outcomes.Knowledge of strategies for properly aligning systems and networks to NIST SP 800-171, RMF, NN-801 and related standards.Conducting risk analysis, developing options and providing recommended solutions to leadership.Writing that is clear, efficient, addresses expected outcomes and is technically sound.

 

JOB SCOPE:

You will operate within general parameters but must exercise sound judgment and independent decision-making. This role includes the responsibility to validate the implementation of security measures in line with established government and contract mandates.

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, subcontractors and primes.Organizational skills for managing projects independently, and prioritizing risk reduction efforts.Staying informed on the latest modern adversary tactics, techniques, procedures, security threats and recommending remediation strategies and operational improvements.Direct experience with NIST SP 800-171 and RMF, with preferred experience with NN-801.Knowledge of identity and access management frameworks and protocols (e.g., SAML, OAUTH, SCIM).Ability to perform technical security assessments of large complex systems.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

U.S. CitizenshipActive DoD Secret ClearanceExperience with implementing, evaluating and/or auditing NIST 800-171/CMMC/RMF.Role is in the greater Portland, Oregon area (Primary office location is in Vancouver, WA). Candidate must physically reside in Oregon or Washington and will be onsite 3+ days per week. Relocation allowance authorized for qualified candidates.Travel may occur up to 10%.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

7 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent, or 10 years of related technical experience (required)4+ years of experience in Information Security or AuditSignificant experience with Information Security technologies, including vulnerability scanning tools, SIEMs, endpoint protection tools, DLP, and IDS/IPS tools

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:   

In accordance with DoDD 8140.01, candidate must possess at least one active qualifying professional certification for compliance with IAT Level III at time of hire.
