Job Overview: As an Information Assurance (IA)/Common Controls Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the customer, your role is to ensure the security and compliance of information systems by implementing and maintaining common controls. You’ll leverage your expertise to assess risks, develop security policies, and guide the organization in adhering to industry standards.
Duties:
Common Controls Implementation:Evaluate and select common controls based on industry standards (e.g., NIST, DoD STIGs).Implement and manage controls across various information systems.Collaborate with system administrators and security officers to ensure proper configuration.Risk Assessment Mitigation:Conduct risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and threats.Develop mitigation strategies for identified risks.Monitor and report on the effectiveness of implemented controls.
Security Policies and Compliance:Develop and maintain security policies and procedures.Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.Provide guidance to system owners and stakeholders on security best practices.
Continuous Improvement:Stay informed about emerging threats and security trends.Participate in security working groups and forums.Recommend enhancements to existing controls and processes. Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Assurance, Cybersecurity, or related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience as an IA/Common Controls SME.Proficiency in common control frameworks (e.g., NIST SP 800-53, DoD RMF).Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
