Responsibilities

Utilizes knowledge of infection control and epidemiology to insure the clinical management of infection control activities at all health system locations.  Ensures compliance with established standards for infection control and Maintains IC regulatory compliance.  Responsible for the evaluation of hospitalized patients for the presence of nosocomial, communicable, and reportable infectious diseases and the investigation and resolution of possible outbreaks. In addition, the position Manages performance improvement activities directed toward the achievement of hospital goals. Maintains communications with Administration, Medical Staff and Department Heads regarding Infection Prevention activities. Provides a high level of support in all the patient care service areas in collaboration with nursing and physician staff; must interact effectively with staff of all levels throughout the hospital and be able to demonstrate a collaborative approach to clinical outcomes and problem solving. Ensures patient safety through attention to detail, equipment safety checks, adherence to organizational and department policies, and regulatory guidelines. Collaborates and communicates effectively with leaders, other departments, physicians, peers and patients and cultivates positive working relationships. Displays conduct in support of CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial Mission & Vision.

Bachelor's Degree – Science, Nursing

Licensure/

Certification

Required:

Registered Nurse with valid Texas license & 

BLS certification (through an approved AHA program) &

CBIC certification

Experience

Required:

Minimum of one (1) year experience working directly in an infection prevention role
