**Job Description**
The 1st shift Facilities & Equipment Painter will lay out work, set up appropriate equipment for surface preparation, determine the type of paint, and select the best method of application to obtain an optimum finish per design specifications and published schedules. This role involves work surface preparation, paint removal, and the selection of appropriate fillers to fill holes, cracks, and joints. The ideal candidate will efficiently utilize resources to minimize scrap, materials, and labor.
**Responsibilities**
+ Perform pre-mixed paint selection and paint preparation by mixing pigments, oil, thinner, and drying substances.
+ Work at heights required for painting walls, ceilings, large vessels, or other furnace components.
+ Select, set up, adjust, and operate equipment to meet specifications.
+ Utilize all facility spray equipment to maximize coverage and durability.
+ Plan the painting sequence and necessary equipment to complete the job.
+ Adhere to published company I.S.O. guidelines and procedures.
+ Maintain and submit accurate daily labor reports.
+ Follow company safety guidelines and procedures strictly.
+ Supply own hand tools per published list.
+ Understand and operate equipment assigned to the area, including safety aspects like lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and proper ventilation.
+ Perform all preparatory processes, including work surface preparation, paint removal, and the selection of appropriate fillers.
+ Verify proof of conformance of finished products to specifications.
+ Follow oral and/or written instructions.
+ Safely operate overhead cranes, fork trucks, hand trucks, or other equipment to move material or product.
+ Properly select, attach, and move materials and/or equipment with appropriate lifting devices.
+ Perform simple upkeep and cleaning of equipment.
+ Store excess materials and/or paints properly and in a timely manner.
+ Maintain housekeeping standards in compliance with company policies.
+ Work with supervision and/or leadmen to accomplish tasks and assist others as needed.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience with forced air painting or painting in an industrial or auto body shop.
+ Ability to mix finishes for consistency and viscosity.
+ Aptitude to work at heights.
+ Ability to select, set up, and adjust miscellaneous hand tools and equipment.
+ Understanding of pre-mixed paint selection and preparation.
+ Ability to follow detailed instructions.
+ Understanding of operating various equipment to move materials.
+ Knowledge of safety aspects such as lockout/tagout and confined space entry.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience in auto body shop painting.
+ Trainable attitude and willingness to learn.
+ Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

**Work Environment**
The work environment can be very hot during the summer, but it remains clean, organized, and well-lit. This is a union work environment. The shift is from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cherry Valley, Illinois.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $26.11 - $26.11/hr.
