Industrial Packaging Designer, Packaging Innovation, MSP
Description We are actively seeking a talented and motivated engineer with a proven track record of implementing Specification and Quality Engineering principles in NPI and sustaining products. You will be working with cross-functional teams that engage in packaging development for both internal and external manufacturing operations. Primary Responsibilities: • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of packaging specifications using SpecRight software • Analyze and validate packaging specifications for accuracy and completeness • Process change requests and maintain documentation • Design and implement quality control measures and tracking systems • Drive standardization efforts across the MSP Packaging Development organization • Ensure compliance with company packaging requirements and sustainability goals and limitations Key job responsibilities - Develop, test, and refine new packaging designs - Create detailed packaging specifications - Produce reports on packaging performance - Participate in meetings to ensure developments meet benchmarks for customer experience, supply chain, and sustainability - Travel to engage with customers, supply chain, labs, and vendors About the team Aligning mechatronics and packaging into one organization, (Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging, MSP) enables Amazon to develop, deploy and scale automated solutions across the Amazon Fulfillment Network, especially from Pick to SLAM for the Automated Robotics Sortable (ARS) network. This group works backwards from deep customer insights to deliver solutions that seamlessly integrate into brownfield and greenfield deployments with safety as a top priority. In addition, Sustainable Packaging solutions are a thread that impacts and connects all parts of the Amazon Stores supply chain and customer experience. They take ownership for the entire packaging experience including selling partner design, first/middle/last mile and total customer experience. They eliminate waste and packaging wherever possible. Where Amazon added packaging is required, they are transitioning from single-use plastics to curbside recyclable paper-based materials. Basic Qualifications - BA in Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering or similar 4 year packaging or industrial design degree - 3+ years experience in paperboard/corrugated design - Proven experience in Artios CAD, Adobe, Solidworks and/or other design tools - Demonstrated understanding of paperboard materials (Kraft, CRB, FBB, Linear, Mediums) Preferred Qualifications - Proven track record of creative package design - Understanding of packaging testing, materials, and processes - Knowledge of sustainability, recycling, and regulations - Industry association participation Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
