POSITION SUMMARY: This position will be part of HES department in the Industrial Hygiene team located in Garyville, Louisiana. This person will be responsible for managing a number of industrial hygiene related programs (e.g. exposure control programs, exposure assessments methods, emergency response, radiation, etc.), oversight support of specific operating units, and completion of field industrial hygiene work. The candidate will work directly with HES peers, Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams. This position provides the opportunity to interact with all levels of management and employees in areas of regulatory compliance, industrial hygiene, and emergency response. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: + Conduct field work including exposure assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, indoor air quality investigations, response to employee concerns, and recommending corrective action to minimize exposure risk. + Collect, review, and summarize exposure assessment and monitoring data to comply with legal requirements, identify potential health stressors, and determine the need for, and effectiveness of, exposure control methods. + Prepare formal reports for management conveying significant findings and recommended specific corrective actions from exposure assessments/monitoring. + Prepare site policies and procedures for industrial hygiene related topics to ensure consistency among components and compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards. + Develop and deliver training materials on industrial hygiene methods and other industrial hygiene related topics to HES Professionals and other employees/contractors. + Serve as Subject Matter Expert in the areas of Chemical (e.g. hydrogen sulfide, benzene), Physical, and Biological Agent Exposure Control, Radiation Safety, Respiratory Protection, Emergency Response Air Monitoring Techniques, and Industrial Hygiene Sampling Equipment. o Review pertinent scientific literature to keep abreast of technical developments in the field of industrial hygiene. + Work closely with Operations and Maintenance to maintain and update health surveillance programs. + Support IT systems and industrial hygiene databases and associated improvement projects. o Provide field safety support for an Area Team or operational area within the refinery. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: + Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, safety, engineering, or a related science required. + Minimum of 2 years of related experience is required. + Must be a highly motivated, customer-centered, self-starter capable of working with limited direct oversight. + Must have excellent organization skills and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. + Must be able to think strategically and work towards continual improvement of internal processes. + Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook. + Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (including respiratory protection when needed), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field including climbing and take hair drug test and physical. + Must have a valid driver’s license. (MPC determines valid status.) + Must be able to obtain a TWIC Card. + Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship. + Travel Requirement is 5% or less. + This position will support Turnarounds as needed.
