Incoming Quality Technician

The Incoming Quality Technician ensures that all incoming materials and components meet quality standards before production use. Responsibilities include inspecting, testing, and evaluating materials, monitoring quality performance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the raw material quality gate.
What will you be doing?
The Incoming Quality Technician performs visual and dimensional inspections of materials and components, ensuring compliance with established standards. Responsibilities include testing, sampling, and documenting inspection results. They also adhere to HSE policies and sustainability regulations, aiming to prevent injuries, reduce environmental impact, and report any HSE incidents for improvement.
The technician identifies non-conforming materials, collaborates with supplier Quality Engineers to resolve quality issues, and ensures corrective actions are implemented. They maintain inspection records, generate quality reports, and communicate results to key stakeholders. Their role is critical in monitoring and enforcing compliance with quality standards and specifications.
The technician actively supports process improvement initiatives by suggesting enhancements to inspection procedures and work instructions. They work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve quality-related issues and provide training to inspection personnel, ensuring consistent adherence to quality standards and best practices.
What will you need to be successful?
At least three years of experience in a similar role within a machining environment is preferred. An advantage is proficiency with Metrology equipment such as CMM (Zeiss CONTURA), Keyence Optical inspection, and surface roughness measurement tools. Strong skills in quality tools like 5 Why and Ishikawa are desirable, along with the ability to conduct thorough inspections and communicate effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
The Incoming Quality Technician will spend a significant portion of their time standing or walking and must be able to perform measurements using hand instruments and electronic laboratory equipment. Excellent vision (or corrected vision) is critical for visual inspections. The role requires flexibility, including the ability to work shifts and overtime. Experience with SAP Quality Module and the ability to support cross-functional quality activities is also required.
