**Position Summary**
The Instrument and Electrical Technician is responsible for one or more operational compression jobs with direct responsibility for the electrical, instrumentation, and controls maintenance and repair activities on electric motor driven compressor packages, gas processes, and rentals.
**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**
+ Act as a technical resource for electrical, instrumentation, and control issues in assigned region.
+ Troubleshoot electrical motor controls, MV and LV VFDs, instrumentation, and digital controllers and PLCs.
+ Perform electrical preventative maintenance (PM) to company standards and procedures independently under minimal supervision.
+ Troubleshoot and repair most electrical, instrumentation, and controls issues without supervision.
+ Familiar in the operation, programming, and safe execution of the following (but not limited to) test equipment: Insulation resistance tester, multi-meters, and DRLO
+ Assist in the installation and commissioning of electric motor driven compressor packages.
+ Participating in cross-functional teams to identify and solve ongoing reliability problems to increase unit availability and reliability.
+ Perform job responsibility in obtaining safe work permits, performing and reviewing JSA’s, and LOTO for self and for contractors as a “job rep.”
+ Perform all duties as a qualified electrical worker according to NFPA 70E and company policies and procedures.
+ Participation in all HSE related activities.
+ Cultivate, build, and maintain customer relationships.
+ Communicate with the Area and Regional Managers for the preparation and planning of area’s budget and personnel needed to provide timely and economical maintenance in assigned area.
+ Analyze the job parts and supply inventory to effectively, communicate with Supply Chain to ensure a sufficient level of parts for optimal job performance.
+ Maintain assigned units in a clean and presentable condition.
+ Complete the proper reports and actions required by the area’s operating procedures/policies.
+ Additional tasks as assigned.
**Education, Experience and Training**
+ A High School Diploma or equivalent required
+ Knowledge of electric starters, MV and LV VFDs, electrical systems, instrumentation, and digital control systems.
+ Preferred- Trade School and/or 3 plus years comparable work experience in a related field/industry. Active Journeyman’s license in state of Texas or New Mexico is a plus.
+ Successful completion of OEM Yaskawa LV VFD and OEM Yaskawa MV VFD training. Existing training within the last 3 years is a plus.
+ Successful completion of Kodiak’s Short Service Employee (SSE) program.
+ Understanding of the structure and logic of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA 70E.
+ Knowledge in gas processes, mechanic of motor compressors (Waukesha, Ariel, Caterpillar, etc.) is a plus.
+ Ability to troubleshoot simple electrical control systems and to maintain instrumentation systems.
+ Experience with modern electric driven compressors used in the natural gas industry, including modern electronic engine controls is a plus.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
**Certifications**
+ Valid Driver’s License, with Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) within the acceptable parameters of Company Policy required
**Physical Demands**
+ Requires operation of heavy equipment.
+ Requires employee to stand for 75% of the time and sit for 25% of the time
+ Requires employee to climb ladders or stairs to inspecting, repairing, and painting equipment and must be able to maintain balance on stairs and/or ladders without assistance.
+ Must be open to work overtime and be available for on-call rotations including weekends and holidays.
+ Frequent travel outside of assigned region.
+ Must be able to frequently lift at least 10 pounds, infrequent lifting of > 50 lbs.
+ High noise environment (>85dbA) will occur with ear protection.
+ Requires work in outdoor conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold.
+ Requires moving and maintaining self in different positions—stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
+ Must wear all required PPE, including fire-retardant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.
+ Requires an employee to frequently type and use computer and other office equipment such as a copier, printer, calendar, telephone, etc.
