**Responsibilities:**
As the hand hygiene specialist, this employee will represent the Infection Prevention Department and perform secret shopper observations of hand hygiene, personal protective equipment {PPE), and other compliance audits and data collection as needed. Significant training is provided prior to independent work shifts.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Assigned to inpatient units throughout Strong Memorial Hospital. Non-sterile work environment in hospital setting geared towards patient care.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Answering and referring phone calls
- Organizing supplies and records; preparing
- Delivering, picking-up, sorting or distributing mail
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Triage any questions or concerns back to the identified Infection Preventionist for appropriate follow-up
- Assist with data analysis and reporting to IPC and other committees
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Enrolled in high school or graduate, at least 16 years of age
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Arrive on time as scheduled
- Provide proper and timely notification to supervisor of scheduled and unscheduled absences; in accordance with department protocol
- Maintain professional appearance according to department dress code
- Take initiative to work independently with minimal direction
- Effectively communicate questions, concerns and suggestions to supervisor
- Work effectively with people of diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Adhere to standard procedures
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIP AA standard
- Understand and carryout oral and written instructions
- Perform other duties as assigned
