This is a challenging and rewarding position developing Hybrid Propulsion Systems as part of our effort to lead the electrification advancements at Ford Motor Company. Building on propulsion systems engineering fundamentals, this is an opportunity to help select and optimize the Hybrid Propulsion System for multiple propulsion architectures (xEV's) in various vehicle applications.
You will be responsible for leading the propulsion systems application for multiple vehicle programs, working closely with vehicle engineering, program and propulsion unit teams to define and specify performance, efficiency (Fuel Economy /Range), thermal, battery durability and other propulsion relevant attributes & requirements for cascade to the propulsion unit teams and vehicle teams.
Minimum Requirements:
B.S. in Engineering or related field Knowledge of Electrified Propulsion Systems and Key Subsystems Experience with Automotive Engineering concepts and processes Experience working with cross functional teams and driving product development issues to resolution Experience communicating technical information concisely in executive reviews Ability to lead tradeoff studies with a drive for resultsPreferred Requirements:
≥ 3 years of experience in systems engineering role Experience with and comfortable working within the ambiguity and change of advanced programs Understanding of EV / Hybrid powertrain system functionality and attributes at subsystem and vehicle levels Knowledge of working globally across cultural and organizational borders to achieve one goal and meet targets highly preferred Passion for the development and advancement of hybrid and electrified vehicle technology Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, self-motivated, eager to take responsibility and deliver results with minimal supervision Knowledge of advanced and forward model development process Knowledge of powertrain controls and calibration Knowledge of analytical CAE tools such as Matlab and performance modeling with MoSuite Knowledge of program planning / management, powertrain component or systems design Excellent written & verbal communication skills - ability to organize multiple inputs into succinct summary and manageable discussion Knowledge of project life cycle management from R&D to Production

What you'll do…
Lead definition, development, sizing, requirements of next generation xEV powertrain systems for consumer and commercial vehicles· Lead power-pack sizing and attribute trade-off studies for optimal attribute/cost balance Lead definition of powertrain architecture and cascade system targets to meet vehicle attributes Work closely with battery, motor, inverter, gearbox, brake, generator, controls & calibration, team leaders / technical experts to reduce component losses and optimize designs to improve performance, efficiency and maximize vehicle range Lead / support GPDS milestone reviews of the system definition, requirements, and capability (assessment against the requirements) Develop and present system trade-off studies to solicit direction from management Develop actions addressing lessons learned from previous programs Produce systems documentation including architecture and functional diagrams
