Job Description
The HVAC Equipment Maintenance Technician will be a key member of the Test Facilities & Equipment Engineering Team within the Engineering Test Organization. This role supports Reliability/Durability, Strength, Environmental, Safety, and Performance Test teams by ensuring the safe operation of the lab through the installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of test equipment, workshop assets, and facility infrastructure.
ResponsibilitiesPerform the installation and commissioning of test equipment, workshop assets, and facility infrastructure.Conduct preventive maintenance and repair of test equipment, workshop assets, and facility infrastructure.Interact with outside contractors and service personnel to manage equipment installation, commissioning, or repair projects.Mentor less experienced technicians as appropriate.Essential SkillsInstallation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems.Experience with environmental test chambers, cooling, heating, and freezer systems.EPA Universal Certification.1+ years of hands-on experience with refrigeration cycles.Knowledge of Cascade equipment/systems.Experience with mechanical, electrical, and schematic equipment maintenance.Proven record of hands-on experience maintaining gearboxes, electrical panels, and pneumatic systems on HVAC units.Additional Skills & QualificationsStrong interpersonal and communication skills.2-year Technical Trade School Degree or equivalent work experience.Experience in the Industrial and Manufacturing Equipment Repair Industry.Experience with Digital Multimeters.Previous experience with the repair of test equipment (preferred but not required).Hands-on technical experience in diagnosing/troubleshooting equipment failures and their repair.Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of hand and power tools, shop tools, and shop equipment.Fluency with blueprints and schematics (electrical/plumbing/refrigeration/controls).Experience with soldering/brazing (copper-to-copper/copper-to-brass/copper-to-steel).Ability to communicate orally and maintain strong documentation upon completing work.Ability to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments.Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues and the public.Experience working in a team-based environment to achieve common goals.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
This role is based in a research and development factory with an indoor setting in a massive manufacturing facility. Different teams occupy various parts of the factory, all contributing to the R&D efforts. An NDA is required to specify the equipment being worked on. Primarily based in Fremont, this role also requires some travel to support other sites around the South Bay area. The day shift has a flexible start time from 8am-9am, with coverage needed up to 6pm. Expect to work 8-10 hour days with potential overtime.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $37.00/hr.
