Summary/Objective: The primary responsibility of the technician is to work on active/new projects/products for the HVAC market. Other responsibilities will be the design and testing of new, current, and old HVAC components. The applicant will identify problems in current production units and find solutions for active units. This role will require candidates to be able to work well in a team-based environment and communicate well with other engineers. Mechanical background and automotive understanding is required along with a physically active work environment, working in, under, or on top of vehicles. The technician will provide engineering knowledge and support in the electrical, mechanical and HVAC disciplines. Applicants need to have proficient, fundamental knowledge of school buses, commercial vehicles, transit vehicles, and electric vehicles Duties and Responsibilities: Creating engineering documents including detail drawings, assembly drawings, & BOMs. Communication skills Working knowledge of manufacturing & assembly processes. Understanding general principles of refrigeration and HVAC. Creating models using 3D SolidWorks. Creating schematics using 2D SolidWorks. Performing components and system testing and troubleshooting. Selecting components to meet applicable specifications/standards. Revise/improve current products via ECN process. Working Conditions: Primarily working indoors, office environment and manufacturing plant. May sit for several hours at a time. Prolonged exposure to computer screens. Repetitive use of hands to operate computers and hand tools. Qualifications: AS Engineering Degree Competencies: Customer Focus Decision Quality Results, Action Oriented Displaying Technical Expertise Time Management/Organizational Ability Supervisory Responsibility: This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring. Physical Demands: Ability to analyze information to solve complex problems; ability to maintain attention to detail and accuracy; ability to sit/stand for long periods daily; position requires some lifting when doing mock installations on vehicles Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time salary position, and hours/days of work are decided by production schedules and your reporting manager. Travel: Occasional travel to other design and manufacturing facilities Occasional travel to trade shows / seminars Occasional travel for customer visits Preferred Education and Experience: Work Experience: 1-2 years of experience in related area Education: Associate degree in related field Work Authorization/Security Clearance: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
