We boldly go. **Job Summary:** Trane Technologies has an exciting opportunity for an onsite position in our Engineering Test Laboratory (Lab) in La Crosse, Wisconsin as an HVAC Compressor Build Technician III. Your primary function, as a lead technician, is to build, instrument and test compressors for New Product Development (NPD), sustainability, quality, and agency compliance projects. Your technician role will support qualifying products for Trane Technologies’ corporate Compressor Network of Excellence team. The job requires problem solving, troubleshooting, multitasking, and collaboration with other lab and engineering team members to ensure timely completion of projects. This candidate will need to be a self-starter and can work independently. This position is salaried non-exempt. **Thrive at work and at home:** + **Benefits** kick in on **DAY ONE** for you _and_ your family, including health insurance and holistic wellness programs that include generous incentives – **WE DARE TO CARE** ! + **Family building benefits** include fertility coverage and adoption/surrogacy assistance. + **401K** **match** up to 6%, plus an additional 2% core contribution = up to **8%** company contribution. + **Paid time off,** including in support of **volunteer** and **parental leave** needs. + Educational and training opportunities through company programs along with **tuition assistance** and **student debt support** . + Learn more about our benefits here (https://careers.tranetechnologies.com/global/en/benefits) ! **Where is the work:** This position has been designated as **onsite** . **What you will do:** + Work safely and maintain a safe work area in accordance with company policies and procedures + Lead compressor development activities by assembling, disassembling, inspecting, and instrumenting compressors and compressor components. + Lead installation, modification, and builds of developmental commercial HVAC compressors, following engineering, agency, and test requirements. + Manage parts inventory for current and future compressor builds. + Work with Test and Development Engineering and other Technicians to install, troubleshoot and utilize laboratory test equipment including data acquisition systems, power analyzers, flow equipment, pressure, and temperature measurement devices. + Fabricate, braze, and weld as necessary to support compressor builds and testing facilities. **What you will bring:** + Associate degree in HVAC or equivalent technical discipline and at least 10-years of work experience is required. + OR 1-year certificate/diploma in HVAC or equivalent technical discipline and at least 15-years of work experience is required. + Must possess excellent mechanical skills and the ability to use handheld measurement tools. + Basic knowledge in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ability to read and understand prints. + Knowledge of AutoCAD or Pro E is preferred. + Certifications in welding and brazing or willing to be certified. + EPA Type Universal Certification or willingness to become certified. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook) required. **Key Competencies:** + Demonstrates and occasionally mentors advanced knowledge of measuring/inspection instruments and or mechanical and electrical components and their principles, properties, and theories. + Demonstrates and occasionally mentors advanced understanding of schematics, reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical reports, safety rules, operation, and maintenance instructions + Ability to understand, follow and author current work instructions and applicable test standards + Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of complex variables in situations where only limited standardization exists + Strong verbal and written communication skills in order to listen and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees in the organization + Ability to lead in a fast-paced team environment. **Compensation:** **Base Pay Range:** $61,000-$87,000 _Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages.
