Job Description

The Human Resources Specialist I provides support to the Employment Support unit within the People & Culture department.  The daily responsibilities involve customer service, data entry and reports, records management and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.  The People & Culture office is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  Work hours may vary during peak season and may require time outside of normal business hours. Position is in-office in Stephenville, Texas.

Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. Must be able to work remotely at the discretion of the University.

Responsibilities:

Front desk coverage and support: Serves as the first point of contact for employment inquiries. Works with Employment, Benefits, and Employment Support teams to ensure delivery of customer service. Provides complex and detailed information necessary for daily office operations. Assists customers with Tier 1 level HR-related questions.

Student employment, Graduate Assistant employment and Adjunct employment: Manages end-to-end direct hire process from initial request through onboarding. Ensures process consistency and data validity. Assist in the new employee onboarding.

Employment Changes: Receives requests, prepares, and collects required documentation for review and sign-off. Sorts and organizes data as appropriate. Maintains and processes records in HRIS (Workday) and employee personnel files. Maintains accurate employment files and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Employment Support (general): Researches and resolves routine issues in connection with assigned job duties.

Employment Separations: Assists in separation processing and facilitates the development of filing systems, retention, and disposal schedules. Ensures compliance with Records Retention requirements.

Administrative Support: may assist with preparation of travel requests, submission of work orders, office inventory and office supply orders.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

One-year experience in HR or related field

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Knowledge of HR concepts, principles and practices.

Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
