Job Summary
The Human Resources Specialist will report to the Faculty Affairs Manager and willbe responsible for supporting faculty, staff, and student human resources and payrollrelated activities for the Pitt Business School at the University of Pittsburgh. This includesrecruiting, compensation, position management, employee relations, and performancemanagement. The Human Resources Specialist will assist in the execution of all processes
related to faculty, staff, student workforce planning and management. The incumbent will be responsible for the process of hiring and terminating employees (overseeingjob postings, interviews, etc.), position management (job description management andupdates), and temporary faculty, staff, and student workers. The incumbent will provide insight and guidance to the HR Team as it pertains to vacancies, new positions, updatingcurrent positions, and all other necessary daily functions.
Position Details
The Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for oversight of faculty/staff/student management processes. This includes implementation and coordination of orientation,on-boarding, and training for all new employees. In addition, the incumbent will assist in the performance management process and entry of human resources actions intothe PittWorx system. The Human Resources Specialist may provide coaching advice to
management to assist with performance or behavioral-related issues and may confer on sensitive matters and assist in problem resolution. The Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for assisting in all general human resources functions including but notlimited to managing and communicating policies and procedures, initiating and coordinating HR actions (leaves of absence, employee relations actions, etc.), acting as liaison for HR systems, and maintaining all files. As well, the incumbent is responsible for all payroll actions for all employees (faculty, staff, GSA, student, and temporary). This includes reviewing registers, processing payments and salary modifications, and acting as liaison tothe payroll department.
