The Human Resources Manager is a highly visible position and plays a crucial role in supporting the overall direction and execution of HR functions in an often fast-paced hospitality environment. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day HR operations, employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and compliance with company policies and legal regulations. The HR Manager ensures that all team members feel valued, supported, and empowered to deliver exceptional service to our guests.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ **_Recruitment & Onboarding:_**
+ Oversee the recruitment and hiring process, including job postings, screening candidates (occasionally), extending offer letters and following candidate through the background process to their first day.
+ Assist in sourcing for candidates, including boosting ads and participating and coordinating on and off-site career fairs.
+ Work as liaison between candidates and hiring managers.
+ Lead onboarding and serve as back up to HRD to ensure a regular cadence of orientations (Welcome to Hyatt) to integrate new hires into the company culture and hotel operations.
+ **_Employee Relations:_**
+ Address and resolve disputes between employees, or between employees and management, to maintain a harmonious workplace.
+ Act as a trusted resource for employees, handling complaints/concerns, managing conflict resolution and employee concerns with confidentiality and professionalism.
+ Support managers in dealing with employee performance issues, including providing coaching, and handling disciplinary actions when needed.
+ Foster a positive workplace culture that encourages teamwork, open communication, and employee engagement.
+ Partner with the HR Director to conduct investigations into employee complaints, including those related to discrimination, harassment, or unethical behavior, and mediate complex disputes in compliance with company policies and legal guidelines, recommending corrective actions as needed.
+ Provide coaching and support to managers on employee performance issues, ensuring alignment with Hyatt and Alila standards and values.
+ Partner with HRD to facilitate training programs to enhance skills, service standards, and career development.
+ **_Safety and Wellness:_**
+ Establish and maintain processes to educate managers and colleagues about safety and wellness.
+ Partner with hotel management to reduce/correct work safety concerns.
+ Collaborate with managers to drive safety and wellness recognition programs (form and chair the hotel Wellness Committee).
+ Regularly review employee handbook, policies and SOPs to ensure all reflect current laws as well as best and safe practices.
+ Send personal recognition to acknowledge life events such as a new child, expressions of sympathy, etc.
+ Coordinate and conduct quarterly claims review with GM & HRD
+ **_Compensation & Benefits:_**
+ Close bi-weekly payroll and fund weekly tips, ensuring accuracy and compliance with labor laws.
+ Assist HRD with wage surveys and market research to maintain competitive compensation practices.
+ Maintain detailed and accurate records of employee wages, taxes, and deductions.
+ Regularly review payroll processes to ensure accuracy, identify discrepancies, and prevent errors.
+ Address employee concerns related to payroll discrepancies, overtime, tax withholdings, and deductions, etc.
+ Prepare payroll reports for management, including labor costs, overtime, and tax liabilities.
**Compensation: $61,800.00 - $86,600.00 annually. Alila Napa Valley reasonably expects to pay between $68,000.00 and $75,000.00 based on experience.**

+ **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred _OR_ HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is preferred.
+ **Experience:** Minimum of 3-5 years of HR experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
+ **Skills:**
+ Strong understanding of employment law, labor relations, and HR best practices.
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build trust and rapport with all levels of staff.
+ Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and applicant tracking systems.
+ Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
+ Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
