Compensation and Benefits: 

Compensation: Starting pay rate of $17.60, actual wage will be adjusted based on experience.

Job Summary:

The HR Generalist plays a vital role in supporting the Beast Team and ensuring a positive employee experience in a dynamic and exciting environment. As a key member of our HR team, the HR Generalist assists in all areas within Human Resources to support our seasonal and year-round operations. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the unique culture of a fast-paced 4-season ski resort environment while ensuring compliance, employee engagement, and efficient HR processes.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Ensures the HR Welcome Center is running smoothly

Responsible for the timely and correct onboarding of employees

Assists with the on-boarding tasks in the electronic system and initiates background checks to ensure there are no delays

Performs a variety of basic computer tasks related to the primary functions of the department including:

Assisting applicants and employees with the electronic on-boarding process

Assists candidates with questions and any technical issues that may arise when trying to apply for an open position

Presents a positive image of Killington to all applicants and staff

Greets customers (including employees and applicants); provide information

Answers phones; takes messages

Ensures proper paperwork is complete and issues staff ID / season pass cards

Manually log/post/record a variety of data related to the primary functions of the department

Perform routine filing tasks

Maintains the Human Resources office hours

Performs general office/clerical duties

Assists with all areas of HR operations such as:

Recruiting/candidate flow

Offboarding

Payroll/benefits

Creates a positive experience out of every interaction with our employees and guests

Answers phone calls in a timely and proficient manner and demonstrates a patient, and courteous manner while being helpful to all callers

Use guest/employees name in every conversation

Addresses and acknowledges each guest/employee that enters the office

Actively listens and engages with employees

Develops a strong working relationship with company supervisors, employees and management team members

Ability to shift attention quickly and attend to more than one task at a time, such as:

Searching a database while listening to an employee

Taking contact information from someone on the phone and follow through with a follow up later if you have a line in front of you

Assisting multiple people concurrently through different parts of the onboarding process

Maintains a professional demeanor and focused on solutions when a customer is frustrated; independently resolves conflicts before they escalate

When faced with a question/problem you are unsure of, begin the conversation with “Let me find out for you.” or “What I can do for you…”

Assists employees with HRIS Employee Portal

Assists with 401(k), employee benefit and employment verification

Edits bi-weekly company newsletter

Upkeep of Employee Website

Processing reciprocal requests

Sorting and distributing paychecks

Auditing required federal and state employment posters

Providing and tracking monthly safety topics for the HR department

Treats all conversations as confidential

Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive information (e.g. wage data, medical information, personnel files, EEO information), even when pressured to reveal it; including but not limited to these examples:

Information contained in personnel files

EEO Information

Medical Information

Wage data

Learns quickly and applies new information on the job

Exhibits flexibility and accuracy in a variety of documents, letters, memos and forms asked to create for the department

Gains a working knowledge of insurance options and which employees apply for company coverage

Effectively create and maintain personnel files, miscellaneous paperwork, Federal Documents for both active and separated employees

Understanding of where to look for employee information (i.e. Original Date of Hire, Rate of Pay, Position, etc.) within HRIS system

Ensures ID’s presented are valid

Knows and complies with all company policies, regulations and laws relevant to own job

Is willing and able to acknowledge when other members of the HR team are in need of assistance and offers help without being asked

During peak business levels, job share in other key positions within the resort

Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

General high school education plus 1-2 years’ experience in Human Resources or the like

Experience with HRIS applications

Experience with Microsoft Office applications

Experience with RTP or similar program

Sound knowledge of general office practices and procedures

Ski resort experience/knowledge preferred

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Good planning, administrative and organizational skills, writing and computer skills

Excellent communication skills written and verbal

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Ability to work courteously and efficiently with other company personnel and/customers or others outside the company.

Ability to remain calm and organized while working in a fast-paced environment

Must be punctual and have reliable attendance
