Position Availability: Position Title: Human Research Protection Program Office Student Assistant Specialist Requisition Number: 0406073624 Location New York City Position Type: Student Department: Provost/Provost's Office Responsibilities: The Office of Research Support (ORS) is pleased to announce that a Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) Student Assistant Specialist position is open to graduate students in any program at The New School. ORS seeks candidates who are passionate about research and about helping researchers with their projects that use human research participants. As a HRPP Student Assistant Specialist, the student will assist and support faculty and students with the process of human subjects research approval, help to maintain department records, and help answer questions that researchers may have about the HRPP process. 
The HRPP Student Assistant Specialist will dedicate approximately 8-10 hours per week for 14 weeks each semester and will be paid hourly. The position will be available now through June 30th, with the possibility of continuing through Summer 2025 and the next academic year.

Responsibilities:

The HRPP Student Assistant Specialist will work alongside ORS staff by supporting various faculty and student researchers. Responsibilities will include: Conduct initial reviews of human subjects protocols for completeness. Help track the status of protocols using several software platforms. Maintain regularly reported department performance metrics. Monitor the HRPP email box and work with the HRPP Director to communicate with researchers.

Work Mode: Hybrid - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice. Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions.

Hourly Rate: $20

Candidates must currently be enrolled as a graduate student. Candidates must possess proven proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, the capability to analyze and summarize extensive information, strong independent work skills, and a high level of self-motivation. Strong communication and organizational skills are critical as is the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with previous human subjects research experience.
