We are currently seeking an Occupational Health and Safety Student within our Edmonton Buildings District to work as a Health, Safety and Environment Student on some of the most exciting projects currently underway specifically in Edmonton and surrounding areas. The successful candidates will be exposed to many practical Health and Safety construction functions during their work term. This position will be under the direct supervision of the Health, Safety and Environment Manager. We are looking for students available for a 4-month term starting September 2024.

 

Here's how a(n) HSE Student for our Edmonton Buildings District contributes to our team:

Responsibilities Assist the HSE Professional with inspections and incidental investigations Manage documents (i.e.: data entry, SMC entries, taking minutes, filing etc.) Assist with the orientation of new employees Development of training materials Reviewing paperwork (i.e.: PSI, tailgate meetings, safework procedure, trend analysis) Monitor and maintain the environmental program Recognize and follow PCL and local legislative requirements Analyze site-specific trends and incidents and report findings to district Gather/review/distribute safety-related statistical information Interpret, communicate, and reinforce project safety standards to workforce Qualifications Ability to implement HSE program elements and safe operating procedures Knowledge of environmental requirements and the ability to implement systems which meet compliance Ability to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce the risks of exposure to hazards The ability to determine the cause of an incident, and to initiate and implement corrective action to prevent the likelihood of reoccurrence Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Strong willingness to learn   Access to a clean, reliable vehicle
