Job Purpose
Develop and direct assigned HSE/DOT team members to proactively assist the Executive Director and management in implementing HSE/DOT and sustainability programs that meet and exceed regulations, company and customer requirements and ensure that these objectives are communicated to all workers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (not all inclusive)
Individual must be able to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Promote, assign and coach ongoing professional development of reporting HSE/DOT team members including planned work experiences, continuing health- and safety-related education, professional conferencing and networking;
• Stay current with all regulatory and customer requirements that affect MRC Global in the areas of Health and Safety, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (USDOT), Environmental Protection and Pipeline Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (i.e. HazMat Shipping);
• Develop HSE and FMCSR-related programs, policies, and procedures to comply with regulatory, company and customer requirements;
• Direct the planning, implementation and reporting of corporate sustainability policies, initiatives and programs for the company.
• Oversee incident investigations, the determination of root causes and the formulation of corrective/preventative actions and follow-up to satisfactory completion;
• Oversee the management of environmental assessments and projects for acquisitions and closeouts of company (owned and leased) facilities and properties.
• Inspect and/or tour MRC Global’s facilities to detect existing or potential HSE/DOT risks and impacts, and recommend corrective or preventive measures where indicated;
• Devise, coordinate, and/or conduct training for related HSE, DOT and Sustainability policies and programs;
• Consult with Regional Distribution Center (RDC) and branch management in hazard and risk assessments, HSE/DOT inspections, behavior-based observations and the identification of HSE/DOT and Sustainability improvement opportunities;
• Facilitate management’s recognition for employee participation in HSE/DOT and Sustainability programs and initiatives as well as individual and team performance;
• Travel (avg. 30%) to MRC Global branches as required to introduce and facilitate RDC and branch implementation of HSE/DOT and Sustainability policies, programs and initiatives;
• Assign projects and duties as required to assigned HSE team members.

Education, Experience & Ability Requirements
Any combination of requirements, which provide knowledge and abilities necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities, will be considered.
• Undergraduate degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work;
• Ten to fifteen (10-15) years of progressively responsible experience to include health, safety and environmental regulations, motor carrier safety and HSE management practice and behavioral sciences;
• Strong leadership ability, excellent decision-making skills and the ability to provide clear focus and direction;
• Outstanding verbal/written communication and presentation skills;
• Ability to partner, influence and work effectively with management and outside third parties and positively interact with employees and coworkers;
• Demonstrated abilities, knowledge and understanding of concepts such as: HSE Management Systems, Hazard Identification, Risk and Impact Identification, Analysis and Assessment, techniques for monitoring and improving HSE/DOT and Sustainability Performance, preparation, development and delivery of training;
• Ability to be flexible, motivated, resourceful, independent, reliable and organized in a multitask environment;
• Ability to travel as needed to all MRC Global locations (both scheduled and unscheduled), and work scheduled and unscheduled overtime;
• Valid Driver’s license with the ability to meet the MRC Global vehicle policy.

• Must have the ability to provide documentation verifying legal work status;
• Ability to read and speak the English language proficiently in order to communicate with others, understand and interpret safety instructions, and to respond to inquiries;
• Ability to understand and comply with MRC Global guidelines and expectations, to include Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest guidelines.
