About the Role

UGL have an exciting opportunity for a HSE Advisor to join our Resources - East team based in Mackay.

You’ll be supporting our valued customers as a member of our Northern and Ports Team, with a focus on:

- Bowen Basin Coal Sites - Maintenance Crews

- Local Ports Maintenance and Shutdowns

- Paint and Blast Crew

Reporting to our Area Manager and supported by our dedicated HSE Manager, the role is responsible for:

· Ensuring our HSE deliverables are met and to execute effective, high quality and accurate HSE advice to managers and employees

· Support Operational and project leaders to achieve project deliverables.

· Providing HSE leadership and consultation/advice; supporting Area Managers, operations and project teams to meet our HSE and organisational goals

· Continuous improvement initiatives – identify, create, and work with operations teams to implement and measure

· Safety and Quality initiatives - identify, create, and work with operations teams to implement and measure

· Culture and organisation development – support Area Manager, respective operations superintendents, and project leads in the creation and maintenance of a culture of learning, operational proficiency, safety, results and customer service

· Field leadership – conducting positive safety leadership discussions in the field, coaching others, report and advise opportunities for improvement

· HSE Systems Alignment - Understanding customer health and safety management systems and compliance systems to support UGL teams to achieve ongoing compliance

· Delivery Focus - support the business to improve service delivery processes with a focus on HSSE aspects

· Incident and event reporting – lead investigation, review and implementation of actions resulting

· Project planning support – provide inputs to risk assessment and evaluation, UGL hold-point and project governance coordination as required

· Customer engagement – foster relationships with key stakeholders ensuring alignment on HSE aspects

Ideally you will have:

· Experience in a similar Health, Safety and Environment Advisor position or in a role with transferrable or relevant skills

· Tertiary qualifications in WHS and Environment or a related discipline is desirable but not essential, as is strong knowledge of the WHS and Mining Act legislative frameworks

· Working knowledge of AS 4801, ISO 9001/14001, ISO31000 and a keen interest in ‘best practice’ in heavy industry

· Heavy industrial or resource sector background with familiarisation of working on projects, Shutdowns and outages

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Computer literacy and capabilities in the MS suite of tools, including MS Excel and Word
