The work will be challenging, but always rewarding. **It’s Work That Matters.** **Overview** **Purpose Statement/Position Summary:** Under the supervision of the Research Associates/Research Managers, recruits project participants and administers structured and/or interview survey materials. May be responsible for data collection, data entry, and/or study documentation. Conducts literature searches, writes summary documents, and may participate in the design of studies and metrics. _The Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is looking for a qualified, enthusiastic person for a Health Science and Behavioral Research Associate position. This position is for an Outreach Coordinator who will lead the community engagement activities in Los Angeles for the Adolescent Medicine Trials Network for HIV Interventions. Lived experience as a person who identifies as LGBTQ+, a consumer of HIV prevention or care services, or a person of color is highly valued._ **The Research Associate will:** • Work with existing C2PLA Coalition in co-leading a research consortium that is focused on research activities occurring throughout Los Angeles County, including protocols implemented through the Adolescent Trials Network • Coordinate with partners including young adults and community to obtain input for protocol development to ensure that the protocol meets the needs of young adults living in Los Angeles and can be successfully implemented • Support the implementation of community events to engage young adults and build relationships with partner community-based organizations • Recruit research participants at events; this will include weekend and evening hours **Preferred skills and experience includes:** • History of working with other agencies that provide HIV and other services to the LGBTQ+ communities in Los Angeles County • History of engaging with young adults • Demonstrated commitment to equity • Ability to co-lead meetings and describe research and the value of conducting research • Ability to listen and engage with young adults and community partners • Ability to create recruitment material (paper, electronic, or social media) • Ability to utilize databases to track study activities • Ability to work independently, an internal drive to follow up on study activities to ensure success, and detail oriented **Preferred knowledge includes:** • Knowledge of agencies and organizations in Los Angeles who provide care or conduct research activities related to HIV • How to conduct research, human subjects protection, and ethical requirements in research **Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:** Experience with interviewing and recruiting project participants preferred. Experience using CASI interviewing tools preferred. Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access preferred. **Education/Licensure/Certification:** High school diploma or equivalent. College education in related discipline preferred. **Pay Scale Information** USD $55,120.00 - $95,202.00 CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
