HR Shared Services Manager

We understand the need to provide a flexible working environment partnered with team collaboration and socialisation. Therefore, we operate a hybrid working model with 2 days of working from home per week. This role is based in the Cape Town Office. 

The HR Shared Services Manager will play a critical role in establishing and leading MRI’s new centralized HR Shared Services team in Cape Town, South Africa. This leader will be responsible for building a high-performing team that delivers exceptional service to MRI’s global workforce across North America, EMEA and APAC. The HR Shared Services Manager will oversee key HR operational functions, drive process improvements, and ensure compliance, efficiency, and a best-in-class experience for MRI’s Pride members and managers.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

HR Operations and Service Deliver:

Oversee and manage day-to-day HR transactions, including Workday updates, compensation and benefits changes, and employment documentation.Develop and maintain standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency across all service areas.Partner with global HR teams to ensure seamless transition of tasks from regional teams to the HR Shared Services function.

Pride Self-Service Enablement:

Collaborate with the People Technology team to develop and optimize self-service portals for Pride members and managers.Identify opportunities to enhance system functionality and user experience.Champion automation and process simplification initiatives to improve efficiency.

HR Helpdesk Management:

Establish and lead a dedicated HR service desk to support Pride members and managers with HR-related inquiries.Develop a tiered support model with clear escalation paths to relevant HR teams.Monitor service levels and continuously improve response times and resolution quality.

Onboarding and Offboarding:

Lead a seamless onboarding experience, including document collection, background check validation, and probation review coordination.Oversee a structured offboarding process, ensuring compliance with exit procedures, asset return, final compensation processing, and exit surveys.Work closely with the Talent Acquisition and IT teams to ensure new hires and exiting Pride members have a smooth transition.

Data Integrity and Compliance:

Ensure HR data in Workday and other people systems is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with global regulatory requirements.Conduct regular data audits and partner with internal stakeholders to maintain data integrity.Drive continuous improvements in data governance and reporting capabilities.

Process Improvement and Optimization:

Lead the mapping and documentation of key HR processes in phase 1 to ensure clarity and consistency in service delivery. In subsequent phases, focus on optimizing documented processes and identifying additional opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.Identify opportunities to enhance HR service delivery through technology, automation, and best practices.Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure and improve service quality.Drive innovation in HR operations to enhance the Pride experience.

Stakeholder Management and Collaboration:

Act as a key liaison between HR Shared Services and other HR functions, including Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, and Employment Relations.Partner with regional HR teams to align on priorities and ensure a consistent service experience across MRI’s global workforce.Provide regular updates to leadership on HR Shared Services performance, challenges, and opportunities.

Team Leadership and Development:

Hire, train, and develop a high-performing HR Shared Services team in Cape Town.Foster a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.Implement training programs to ensure the team remains knowledgeable on HR processes, policies, and systems.

EXPERIENCE + QUALIFICATIONS

7+ years of experience in HR operations, shared services, or related HR roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.Strong knowledge of HR processes, employment lifecycle management, and compliance requirements across multiple regions.Experience with HR technology platforms, particularly Workday, is highly preferred.Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.Excellent problem-solving, process improvement, and change management skills.Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities, with experience working across multiple time zones and cultures.Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
